Condi was railed for doing the same thing after Katrina.

Bush was railed for having a stupid face after hearing about 9/11.

Threads like this are pretty interesting because they change based on who has power. Several years ago the Republicans were getting assailed, there were sympathizers. Now the Republican sympathizers are Democrat lynchers, the Republican lynchers are now Democrat sympathizers.

Personally I didn't rail Condi about Vacations, I'm sure more than her went on vacation too.

However the entire Gov should have and could have done a lot more about what happened with Katrina, and still could today. It's not really the same as an oil slick that you can't really do much about, past what has been done.

I don't look at Rep/Dem as equal on stuff like this.. both sides failed to keep this disaster from happening, both sides failed to fully aid in Katrina.

9/11 wise, he should have told those kids he had important business come up and got down to business, I don't care who the leader is - you don't play games when your Country is under attack unless you know shit was going to go down.

Exactly. We've done this for hundreds of years now.

What I love right now is the Republicans. We just had eight years of horror, leaving behind a complete mess. Short of the United States no longer being a country, I don't see how it could be worse. Yet they are the ones shouting the loudest about how horrible the new guy is doing. Whatever already.

No matter who is in office mistakes are going to be made, fuck ups are going to happen, and people are going to bitch.

amazing comparing Katrina to the BP oil spill ( caused by the lack of regulation/enforcement of the previous administrattions ).

What's next ?

Beck Accusing Jewish Social Justice Worker Of Advocating A New Holocaust ?

or

Gingrich saying that Obama ?represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union " ...

It's just one of the solutions being ignored. As far as the coffee filter the stuff changes the molecular structure of the oil so it doesn't have to be cleaned up or filtered. It can then be like an organic fertilizer.

Instead of using something like this they are using something more toxic than the oil itself to clean up.. Corexit 9500

Ignored is a strong work, when it says they're aren't being taken seriously. It appears to take almost equal parts. This isn't some 1/4 inch thick oil slick on the ocean, some areas are 100's of feet thick. It's not being taken seriously for a reason....

Eight years? where did you get that, the GOP had the house and the senate from 94 to 06, the democrats ran on change in 06 and took the house and the senate, we've had 3 1/2 years of democrat control, 1 1/2 years of complete democrat control, when did everything start to go bad?, I mean really bad?
Most democrats like to tell you how great it was when Clinton was president, he got so much done, yeah he did, after the house and the senate got taken over by the GOP.

Both parties are fucked, 6 years with Bush and GOP running the house and senate did nothing but go to war, people got pissed and voted out the GOP from both the presidency and the house and senate, but we are still fucked and the war continues and having a date that we are suppose to pull out has become a tool of Al Qaeda. We have out of control spending and increased government bureaucracy, it's a mess. And people say the Tea Party are a bunch of nuts, I think the people that make fun of the Tea Party are idiots, because they are just people that are responding to a fucked up situation and doing something about it, instead of posting on a forum defending the idiots in office.
If you think that Obama is doing a great job, keep thinking that, here's a list of the friends he keeps.

When Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer decided to retire in 1995, she hand-picked local left-winger Barack Obama as her successor. In order to introduce Obama to influential liberals in the district, she held a function at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. This was, really, the beginning of Obama's political career, and it linked him forever with Ayers and Dohrn, with whom, as his campaign has acknowledged, he continues to have a friendly relationship.

Ayers and Dohrn were famous radicals, and fugitives from the law, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Dohrn, actually, was the more famous of the two; she was the head, as I recall, of Students for a Democratic Society or one of its factions. Dohrn was crazy. She is the only public figure, to my knowledge, to approve publicly and enthusiastically of the Charles Manson murders.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernardine_Dohrn

Ayers was a would-be murderer of soldiers and policemen, but he wasn't a very good terrorist. He had the ill fortune to be the subject of a profile in the New York Times on September 11, 2001, in which he said that he didn't regret his attempted murders and only wished that he had planted more bombs.

It's when you read about this kinda shit that you know that we should back the Tea Party

You're talking about underwater blobs.. There's a solution for those as well but they aren't being done.. Tankers could be in there sucking that shit out as we speak.. Again not being done.. BP is just doing the same old things they've done for years as shown the the Rachel Maddow video. The government is allowing them to do it.. This guy isn't the only company saying that they are being shut out they are all over the place. One company wanted to DONATE their solution but they were turned away as well..

There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever this is being intentionally prolonged...

I wasn't aware you had the list of cleanup efforts.. however they are using oil skimmers.

While I'm sure BP could have done more at first, the problem isn't going to be fixed with band aids now.

That's like the president after 1 1/2 in office still blaming Bush, he's the fucking president, when does he take responsibility for that?

And Obama is directly dealing with these people, with Bush, it was the family, which is a huge family, some of Osamas family hate him

Many will be gone come November. The most important one is Pelosi, who is pretty much guaranteed to be ousted. Even the left is getting tired of her senile bullshit.

Reid is in trouble too. He is behind in the poles right now.

Definitely. I think the Republicans are going to take either the House or the Senate, but I wouldn't be surprised if they take both. Then perhaps they'll shut down Obama's constant stupidity in economics and foreign policy and get this country back on track.

Renting? Some people seem to think renting is bad? Well, let me tell you something. Renting is beneficial. If only BP was renting on a short-term contract, it could quit the business soon after the leak with little costs and more profits. If you get a long-term contract or buy complete ownership - you are stuck with the thing your whole life.

You start out so reasonable, but end with such lunacy.

Unfortunately, the "constant stupidity in economics" part is in reality both sides of the isle using the same basic economic playbook for decades (Keynesian), which you seem to be well aware of.

All the rest is just political ideology run amok.

Well, I think that is a little simplistic.

I'm obviously no fan of the situation we find ourselves in, but I'm not sure the people who are calling for the Gov't to get out of the way and refrain from spending money during an economic crisis really understand what the consequences would look like.

What do you think would have happened if Bush/Obama did not attempt to stabilize the system?

I can't even imagine anyone in power choosing to let it all collapse. It may happen anyway, but as a strategy? To do it on purpose?

There is such a thing as the lesser of two evils.

The money they spent on the stimulus didn't work, it stabilized the financial district, not the country, they are back do what they were doing before the bail out. The Car companies are continuing to build cars in other countries because it's more profitable for them to do so.
Instead of fixing the problems we have right now, Obama has chosen to pile on more entitlements, that's fucking stupid.
NAFTA is allowing companies to move out of the country for cheaper labor, even Hillary during her campaign said that, but has anything been done, NO.
Simple works, KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid
The only sector that has grown under Obama for Job growth is the government, who pays for that? I know they want the rich to pay for that, UM, aren't they the ones that employ the rest ?

If the money spent stabilized the financial district (the system in my words) then it did indeed stabilize the country as the country relies on this system -- whether right or wrong.

You keep harping on Obama. I was clear to use "Bush/Obama", partly because I don't align myself with either but mostly because they both participated in these events -- more specifically monetary and fiscal stimulus during a downturn (a big one mind you).

Now, an all out, global credit collapse could possibly have been better, but I doubt it. I can only conclude that 1) certain people don't have a grasp of the consequences of allowing the system to collapse 2) their political ideology trumps their personal welfare.

My problem is that it was done to bail out the system with no safeguards to use it to bail out the problems it created, no loans to small business

Fair enough and I don't see anything wrong with this complaint. It is really saying they should have gone further.

And I agree that unless the money makes its way into the economy the chances of recovery are slim.

I personally doubt it will, which is why I don't have high hopes for imminent recovery or inflation.

This is what happens when you put lawyers in charge of business, they have NO CONCEPT.

Obama has been pushing his agenda when the country is falling apart.
It's like he has no clue as to what is going on, just be the president that got healthcare, thats all he's seen so far. Never mind that the country can't afford it, thats it the details and he won't be bothered with that.

Right back to the political ideology.

Spending money when it looks like you can't afford it HAS BEEN the economic policy for some time. I'm sure Obama is painfully aware of the situation -- as was Bush. You have the wrong boogieman.

Maybe THEY will all be wrong.

Yes wig and as you might be familiar, the lesser of two evils would have been for us to fail and start over. What the government has done(lol at Obama Administration), is postpone the inevitable and make the inevitable exponentially worse. I follow the school of thought that if something is going to fail, let it fail and start all over again. It would destroy so many lives, but I'd rather have it happen sooner to less people, than later to more people. What Europe is going through is nothing compared to what we're going to go through when it's end game.

yeah, we've been sacked for 10 years now of bad management, but Obama has done nothing but make it worse.
When we had a liberal president and conservative house and senate, things went pretty damn good, had a surplus even.
If we're lucky, we'll get a conservative house and senate again and hopfully Obama won't act like an asshole and drag his feet on what need to be done. I think tea party is getting people worked up about the spending and the GOP knows they have to do it differently, just like they did in 94 with the contract with America
