God damn IE6! Why do people still use this?

My stats show a SPIKE in IE6 users. Not even sure how that is possible but that thing is nothing but CSS headaches.

IE6 is terrible. Force your surfers to upgrade, telling them it's unsupported on your site, and FUCKING USELESS in every regard

My coder hates it.

I had it working fine, made one SMALL tweak to my css with nothing that should have broken anything and now its all fucked up in ie6.

I've tried asking the users to use other browsers or even upgrade. They don't listen and will send mail complaining about something being messed up AFTER I asked them to upgrade because ie6 is garbage.

<< God damn IE6! Why do people still use this? >>

Because they're surfers. They probably don't work on the interwebs, so they probably don't have the need to upgrade things that they think are working fine. And for what they usually do on their computer, IE6 probably works fine for them.

Life is too short to have to worry about upgrading things that already do what you need them to do.

If I could, I'd still be using Windows 98 and Netscape 4.

I can still get away with XP, so I do - I still use Netscape 7.2 to access my Earthlink email - and my primary computer is a 7-year old Dell. Upgrading anything is a royal pain in the ass. So unless there's a very good reason to do it - I don't.

(I *do* use newer machines for video processing, etc. - but because I have to, not because I want to.)

Drop IE6 support, period.
I have done this a year ago and my conversions are going better and better.
Never more CSS hacks or tweaks.
I could use one of the CSS3 frameworks for support on IE6:

Code:
http://fetchak.com/ie-css3/
http://css3pie.com/
but i don't care, no more.

IE6 users are not commercially converting users.

A sudden spike is more than likely a bot using lots of different user agents, or someone spamming you with crap traffic.
