That said, it's possible to make a nice chunk of change full time if you like, it's not to hard
as long as you have good niche content and work at updating your shit.

Easy enough to do a few k a month there.

There are two ways.

1. From main page, and niche page, rankings clips4sale traffic.
2. Drive additional traffic yourself via other methods.

You can survive on just the clips4sale traffic if you know how to work it. However, depending on where this piece fits in your business model. I would also recommend you push some secondary traffic in there. It can't hurt. Also work the clips.com if you feel frisky for more money.

I personally don't like them. Too much crap on their site, when they first came out you made money, but now the company has changed, (still no affiliate program) for promoting clips which sucks, they don't know how to run their own company. A couple models I tried putting up there I lost money on cause they shut down my account for no reason stating that my docs were not proper when I had ID and basic releases for my models. I will never promote or use them again. I have since learned to open up my own ecomerce store (enable downloading) and sell it myself making all the money. I have a shopping cart that will do this.

If you think they are supposed to drive you all the sales and you do not want to do any work yourself, or know how to work the system, then you will fail and should find something else to do with time and efforts.

C4S is no different than anything else online. It requires some level of work and consistency.

I got my start on C4S. I had just decided I was going to shoot me some porno so I got a room for a week at the Intown Suites and decided I would just shoot as much as I could in a week and see what I could do with it. I remember the exact moment when one of the girls was putting her clothes back on and happened to blurt out "I shot for a guy the other day who told me he's making pretty good money on Clips4Sale." I'm like "huh, what's the name of it? How's that spelled? F O R sale or 4sale?"

Went home and opened a store, loaded up 5 scenes the next day. It was the 18th of the month, that month I made $1200. Next month I made $3500. That was in I believe September of 2007. I made between 3k to 4.5k each month up until I started my own paysite at which point a lot of the buyers just went over to the paysite. But I still make $400-$800/month there updating whenever I feel like it. I've never sent one single hit to the store myself. It's all been glorious, luscious, hallelujah C4S traffic.

Without C4S I would have given up pretty fast so I feel like I owe them a lot.

Anyway, there's a long story you didn't ask for at all. :-)

I've heard from some other people who make most of their money from C4S that sales are well down but lots of companies sales are way down right now. Barefootsies seems to be a C4S master so I'd listen to him for advice if I were just starting out there.

But, only one way to find out for sure. Slap up some scenes and see what happens.

people don't waste your time.. Get a shopping cart that enables downloads, buy your own merchant account and then recruit models, you can even recruit models off clips4sale and offer them a percentage of sales from your own shopping cart. I do this now and make tuns of cash.. No need for c4s.. it's too saturated. Plus my own merchant account won't shut me down!. I can sell anything I want with them and I keep all my own money!.

in 07 I was pulling in 10k monthly, then in mid 08 they went down for about a month in july, lost a processor, when they came back my sales cut in 1/2 so that's where i am since mid 08..around 4-5k a month, but my stuff is niche too..regular shit doesn't sell worth a fuck..

Grab pen and paper folks, jot this down. If you are just starting out in this business, all you need to do is the following per the above 'hot tips'. After all, if it were this easy, EVERYONE would be doing it themselves. Including the O.P..

1. Get a merchant account. So easy to get EVERYONE does it. (not) Applying for a merchant account is a lot like applying for a house loan. I think it's actually more difficult as I have done both.

2. Recruit some models to shoot some porn. Report back on the 'ease' of doing this as well. Where you find them, interview them, and get them to shoot porn. Which says nothing of them actually being able to do a scene that can make you money back on that investment of cash and time.

3. Yep. Run out and grab just any ole shopping cart and throw some clips on there. I am sure once you've done this, those customer come just a flocking to your site to check out your porn wares and the money you'll make off just throwing up some clips on a shopping cart of your own should be endless. Oh, that's right. You will get to keep it all for yourself.

I've been in this industry since 1997, and know a hell of a lot more about the front, and back alleys than you do. Thats' for damn sure. Including not running to a message board to cry over a payment an hour late after a Federal holiday, or throwing around allegations about companies with intent and malice.

If you did not live paycheck to paycheck, than you would not be so quick to blast companies on message boards before the banks even open. Much trying to intentionally hurt their reputation and business.

I find it found money from content I already made money from. There are guys who refuse to join sites but will pay $20 for one scene of content. It makes me laugh experiencing that and then hearing people on this board saying porn should be sold like itunes.99 cents a scene. Ive worked in adult for over 27 yrs. C4S is a great way to make extra money. I've had numerous stores up there for many years now. I upload the same content that you would get when you join my network for $24.95, but for whatever reason, the C4S crowd is happy to pay WAY more than that, just to buy a few clips! I woke up today to over $300 in clip sales from just ONE customer! He could have joined PeckerPass.com for under $25 and gotten ALL of the clips he just bought, plus HUNDREDS more, but decided that shelling out over $300 was the better plan. You gotta love it!

We did alright on c$s with content people can't shoot today. It was already shot and edited so putting it up was easy. Never felt like wasting time driving traffic to the clip stores. But with the ease many say it is, it would be flooded. If you look closely at what people say it's a way to earn some money shooting some cheap content.

Also it depends on what you call decent money.

Many producers are making more than a sufficient living off their clip stores on www.Clips4Sale.com and have done so for quite some time.
Unfortunately this industry is not what it use to be where you could post some clips and just have money roll in. Now days you have to actually put in effort and it is recommended for the best ROI to update your studio as frequently as possible.

I would advise doing some research. www.C4S.com is mainly driven by amateur fetish niche content so basic hardcore porn may not make the cut.
Try something out side of the box and maybe get some idea's simply by looking at what is currently the top selling clips on the site which is displayed on the main page. (http://clips4sale.com/do/list)
If bondage ain't your thing try foot fetish. Hate your feet? Then give Humiliation a go.
Can't decide? Then TRY THEM ALL!
There is over 500 different categories on the site.

In regards to having licenses etc. If you are shooting the content and are not in it then it is advised (and I hate telling people this) but you need to have your wife sign a model release form EVERY TIME you shoot content. Also have a copy of her ID on hand.
If you are both in the content then legitimately you should both sign model release forms.

Despite being married, if something were to happen in your relationship, in order to not encounter serious complications if things go south between the 2 of you it is in both your best interest to consider this as you would any other business.

If she leaves you and demands for the studio to be shut down does she have the right to demand such things? YES she does if there is no legal documentation permitting for her content to be there.

That's mostly true about non-niche pretty girl sex content selling poorly on C4S compared to fetish clips, but not entirely. I first put up my clip store back in early 2008 selling mostly already years old teen lesbian, lesbian cheerleader and kissing clips from my DVD movies that I shot between 1999 and 2004 and I managed to sell around $15,000 of clips in the last three or so years. I was really working hard for the first year or so updating it constantly to the front page and sending some of my own traffic too. I haven't updated in a while and it's dropped off to a trickle of sales now, but that was a nice way to re-sell the same content I already made money on a half dozen different ways.
