The programs are nothing but a slush fund for income tax shortfalls. By the time the "boomers" hit critical mass on the public dole the house of cards crashes.

Dont sell the gold standard short. The price of the commodity will fluctuate with demand. If the U wants to print 15 trillion dollars a year they bett buy the commodity. If they can't afford it, dont fucking spend the money. I dont see the harm with the concept.

But dismiss Paul as a kook and for for the actor or whomever Jon Stewart thinks you should vote for. Then you can hang at starbucks with the other cool dudes, sipping on you latte and lamenting how fucking bad things are.

Gold is just as useless as the paper they print. The only thing different is that it's a finite resource so it can't be created on demand.

Returning to the gold standard will basically cause the price of gold to rise exponentially when the demand for currency rises, it isn't a solution for inflation, in fact it isn't a solution for anything. Paul talks about have the Fed and fractional reserve banking is destroying dollar buying power and causing inflation. He doesn't detail how switching back to the gold standard would solve this. Hong Kong ties it's currency to US dollars, didn't stop deflation there, which can hurt an economy just as badly.
