Smart people - HELP ME! Video problem: fps, bitrates, etc.

OK,

I don't want to post the video, but here's the problem:

I have an AVI video that is perfect quality and the moment I upload it to YouTube, part of it (4-5 seconds) gets choppy - this is not YouTube or computer resource problem as exactly the same place gets choppy when I convert the video to WMV with Movie Maker.

I got a converter and managed to convert the AVI file to FLV with perfect quality (retained the quality of the original file) and again when I upload it to YouTube, the same place gets choppy. I guess YouTube reduces bitrates or frames per second or something and the movie gets screwed up....

I spent hours reading about similar problems and that got me nowhere - is there anything that I can do with this file so that when I upload it to YouTube it retains its original quality?

Someone suggested reducing colors or darkening the movie ? I am not sure how to do that, but if it is likely to help, I guess I can find some free tool or see if I can do it with movie maker.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

^ building up on that...Could be a number of things.. .reducing colors or making it b/w won't make any difference imo.... it sounds like frames are being skipped.....re-encode the thing w the same frame/rate and video bitrate but make sure to set your app to encode without skipping frames.

Crop the part where all hell breaks lose... re-encode(w no frame skipping) ... upload it n see....

Ok, when I encode I check "keep fps as source" - doesn't this keep the same number of frames or should I look for option that says "no frame skipping" - I will check the converter that I downloaded if it has such an option.... and if it doesn't, I'll get on Google and see what I can dig up

Thanks

Thanks, downloading the trial .... I just hope it doesn't watermark the video or something, but I'll see if this works.

Thanks

I dont know never used the trial version. One thing I would suggest though when encoding is to not encode using mp4. I have never particularly liked the results.

Dont get overly concerned about using the program for now but more on the templates.
