If I have any emotion, it's feeling sad for for the statistically uneducated American that line up like sheep to follow an entertainer.

Speaking of stats.... Your daily American reads at a 6-9th grade level, which means they comprehend information at the same level. News once was produced at a 12-15 level, today most stations are 6-10th grade level, with a few reports/reporters that still go up. The majority of people get information at the most basic level, comprehend the information at the most basic level and aren't able to rationalize the full picture even if it's explained to them with pretty pictures and drawings.

Legal documents, lawyers, local laws are written around level 15-25. Government acts, policies, laws, etc are written between levels 35-50+. I don't actually expect the mass majority of people to truly understand this information, and the mass majority don't. They have no choice but to get the information from a 3rd party source.


When I see Beck spewing twisted, backwards, jacked up information that is clearly misguided, incorrect and sometimes pure straight up stupid and then a few 100k people line up to agree with him... I only need to know the stats and look at that rally to understand why America is truly fucked.

Stewart/Colbert are both on a comedy channel, if anyone is getting news from them rather than entertainment, then yes they would fall under the stupid category, for more than one reason.

I don't recall where I got the numbers about the media not producing content at the same level as they once did. However, even if it's still 9th/10th grade that's still greatly below the reading level of laws, acts, gov regs, and so on.

i don't think the channel is the differentiating factor here. for example, i never watch cnn, but for some reason i tuned into cnn during the world cup soccer finals , they were doing a major cover story on an octopus that predicts the winner of the world cup, that is not news, yet it was on cnn.

see what i am saying? the line between entertainment and news today is blurry. news shows are just as concerned with ratings as the "entertainment" shows.

In my opinion...which I have stated before...most of those that have lost their jobs will not get those jobs back. As for the economy...it has small growth every quarter...and will stumble along for a few more years.

Neither party is going to stop spending...or increase taxes to pay as they go...and pay down the deficit so ultimately there will be a really bad end...just a question of how many more years we can stumble along.

Beck's followers are not lunatics...but in my opinion they are not very bright...and as I stated I suspect the majority of them are on the negative side of having an average IQ.

The Gov stepping in to correct problems is going to mean more regulations when the problem we're in is largely due to corporate greed.

What he has done is stopped the worst economic drop in history from turning into a depression. With this some growth and stability has returned. Today we're trying to get it growing, more. Not again, not starting over, not stopping a slow down - getting it to grow, more.

Obama, "Well, look, we ? we anticipated that the recovery was slowing. The economy is still growing, but it's not growing as fast as it needs to. I've got things right now in ? before Congress that we should move immediately. And I've said so before I went on vacation, and I'll keep on saying when I ? now that I'm back. This is what's getting done, exactly what we need... this is how you grow the eco and lower unemployment.

I think the biggest problem is we hired a lawyer to run our business. Lawyers know nothing about business, they know academia, which doesn't help in the real world. Jobs they can create by limiting trade with giants like China. If labor costs are cheaper in China, then business is going to manufacture from China. The trade deficit is way out of balance and can be controlled, we are about the only country that doesn't, we just buy everything.
Then there is our immigration, we need to change it, when 1 in 12 babies in the US are born to illegal aliens, I think it we need to adopt the immigration policies of countries like Australia or Denmark. Basically, one parent has to be a citizen. And if you want to move there, better have a job waiting for you. Billions are spent by states that could do better spending it on our roads and schools

It's been said that every green job replaces 2 regular jobs, so scrap the green approach till things get better

Healthcare law is full of flaws and needs to be scraped till things are better, we can't add entitlements to 30 million people during a recession, that's just fucking stupid

Adding regulations will do nothing to the bank system, and not including Fannie and freddie was stupid. They fucked up, we bailed them out, with the kind of money they made, do you really think it won't happen again?

Immigration needs to be rewritten, one parent has to be American for a baby to become a citizen at birth, just like many other countries. And immigrant have to get a job, or they have to leave, we can't afford them anymore

NAFTA needs to go bye bye and trade with other countries needs to be balanced, US companies can't compete with foreign labor

Balance the budget, if we can't afford the entitlement, it needs to go away, if a government agency needs to trim the fat, so be it. End all wars and pull half of the US bases in foreign countries, hell they always say they don't want us there anyways, we'll pull the bases and they will cry about that, fuck them.


And anytime any money is spent on any project, someone needs to make sure it's worth it

If any congressmen or senate is ever convicted of fraud, he is sent to prison, not happy acres, they are required to pay into the SSN system and not given any pay after there time in office over time served towards a responsible retirement, with the exception the President and the Vice President.

I think that of course there are things that can be done...that would help to improve the current situation...but I do not see...on the near horizon or the distant horizon...a Congress and a President working together to improve the current situation. A President has very little domestic power...that lies in the hands of Congress...so even if a great President were to be elected (and I do not know of a single person currently alive that I would consider as being a potentially great President) it still is the 535 members of Congress whose mercy he is at.

In my lifetime...partisanship has always played a role...but they still made some effort to work together for the perceived betterment of the country...but now...from my perspective...it appears to be all about partisanship and the hell with the country.

No matter which of the two major parties fare better in November...and no matter which party elects the next President I do not expect to see any significant improvement for the country...or any significant attempts to change what has been business as usual. It will continue to be business as usual...a trend that has been in play since President Reagan started it off...borrow...and spend...and increase the deficit...as many more years as possible....before the house of cards collapses.

Green technology is the way to go, if we want to ever be back on top of the economic empire we must set the standard for a technology and create the technology. It's one direction to take, out of many that are being taken.

Healthcare isn't costing us and caring for the health of a nation cares for the stability of a nation in the future.

Yes, more regulation could have been put in, however F&F aren't banks.

Obama recently said, AZ had the right goal in mind, they just took the wrong path. We can't have states/cities making up various regulations for immigration when the fed needs to tackle the issue. Getting that law changed will be like pulling a bears teeth.

No mater who you elect, NAFTA isn't going away and it for sure isn't all bad.

Obama has stated many times they have been and continue to work towards balancing the budget and has made several statements about spending. Which is why the war has a pull out of date in 2011. Realistically, Obama doesn't have the power to close all bases in foreign countries.

More over site means a larger government.

He has passed several bills on his own merits, healthcare anyone? Of course that's the same process Bush used to get the war funding and other crap though.

Being that congressmen/senators would be the one that votes on that, I just don't see it going through.



Most of these things Obama can't actually do... most of these things wouldn't actually grow our economy or add more jobs. A wish list of a perfect Gov that doesn't have all things you don't like, doesn't help our Country.

Roughly 10,000 green technologies in America alone, fastest growing technology, investments, etc. Green schools make more money than non-green schools. Green houses use less resources and can now cost less money. This isn't one thing or one industry or one technology, it's 10,000's of them.

i wholeheartedly agree. it will be these sorts of things that are a game changer, we've done it before and will do it again. this solar roadway does have some kinks in it though, even though it solves many problems, including a couple of key components of our decaying infrastructure. and i also don't think we will embrace this sort of thing without being forced to.
