question about online check in (flying)

I have never used this feature before.

Lets say I have a 11am flight international and they want you to be there 2 hours early. If I am able to print my boarding pass and check in from home. When I arrive (with only a carry on) Shouldn't I be able to come a little bit later, say at like 10am?

Essentially I am able to go direct to security check point. Often if you are too late to the airport, your major cockblock is the ticket machine/counter person saying you are too late.

I am curious if anyone knows the answer.

Yes, you should be able to. Pending the security line isn't two hours long.

Beauty of it with a carry on. =)

Exactly, go early, bring a laptop, magazine and enjoy some food or massage, haircut or similar there. Or if you're a gold member of any of the airlines, go to the lounge and get away from the sheep herd.

But generally for an online check in, you can show up 1 hour before flight. Should there be a long line at the security gate, be sure to cut out of the line, and alert a member of the security staff and they will fast track you. Just remember to be very polite and thankful and they usually go out of their way to make sure you get onboard in time. Just don't ever raise your voice, do not tell them how important you are or how much you need that flight. Just let them know you got tied up in the check in line and now need some friendly help to make your flight in time.

I am always pretty much the first at check in. I hate even playing with missing a flight.
