Breadcrumb navigation question

Is it still considered a standard to leave the page a site visitor is currently on unlinked when using a breadcrumb type navigation structure on a page?

Any advantages / disadvantage of actually linking the current url in the breadcrumb text other than the potential SEO opportunity?

So either this:

Home > Sub Dir > Current Page

Or this:

Home > Sub Dir > Current Page

Which option is still considered the norm and which do you prefer to use and what are the benefits (if any) of each?

Instead of trying to pander to whatever Google may or may not want, pander to what users will want.
