SEO: Help me to recover my website

I think that I was hit by PANDA or PENGUIN update at 12 Feb more or less.

Please check:

My average traffic was between 10.000 and 17.000 unique visitors daily.

Now:
March: 8,000
April: 6,000
May: 5,000
Jun: 4,000
Jul: 3,000

And still dropping...
I don't know what to do... I already hired about 4 SEO companies without any luck.
I need to found a PROFESSIONAL who knows whats he doing... not playing with me, because this is my life, I have wife and children and want the best for them.

Please, recommend me a good SEO guy!
Who you know and work for years, and that never hit by PANDA and PENGUIN updates.

Hi,

It is a mean looking drop but you usually seem more dramatic drops than yours even.

Why don't you let us know the URL with an e x ample dot com obfuscation or shorturl and we can have a look?

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi,

I'm afraid I'd need a peep at the domain before I can help. I'm sure it's not panda or penguin though; the dates are wrong (Feb 12th) and the drop isn't big enough.

I think you need to tell us more!

Cheers,
Paz.

I would tend to agree. Pass along the URL and I (we) can probably offer much better advice. I am assuming that you didn't make any changes, take on new affiliates, sell ads to someone different, etc. around that time...correct?

That does seems like way too gradual of a drop to be a search engine update...

Everyone above is keen to help which is great. Also think about anything - anything, that you may have changed that would cause a reassessment of your site. Also check your Google Webmaster Tools account to see if you have duplicate content or page URL parameters problems. Start by reverse engineering your changes...

Whatever it waw, if it hit you on Feb 12th you weren't alone.
http://www.seroundtable.com/google-f...ate-16351.html
I'm no expert in the field, but updates do sometimes take a while to role out, and Panda 24 launched in late January. Is it possible you have thin or duplicate content? To agree with everyone else, more info would be needed to help.

Hey guys, thank you for your replies and for trying to helping me.

RaunchyRepublic, the fact is that I have warnings about duplicated content. I saw that once but can't find where to find in webmaster tools anymore.

How can we see the reason of the duplicated content, they tell us?

I have an theory, I have a domain.com in English, and have many subdomains with same exactly content but with different languages. For example: es.domain.com, fr.domain.com and also have a different domain with same content but with a different language. Could this could harm my website?

And another thing, someone told me that I can add a code in the websites saying that belongs to same site but they use different languages. How can I do that? Anyone knows and can explain to me how to do it?

P.S. many SEO guys who talking with said that my website was not penalized or hit by PANDA or PENGUIN updates.

Thank you guys!

I have found something interesting, I have my website in other languages using subdomains, for example, es.domain.com

And in all subdomains, in webmaster tools I have this warning:

HTML Improvements Last updated Jul 4, 2013 We didn't detect any content issues with your site. As we crawl your site, we check it to detect any potential issues with content on your pages, including duplicate, missing, or problematic title tags or meta descriptions. These issues won't prevent your site from appearing in Google search results, but paying attention to them can provide Google with more information and even help drive traffic to your site. For example, title and meta description text can appear in search results, and useful, descriptive text is more likely to be clicked on by users. More Information
Last updated Jul 4, 2013

The main domain is the only that don't have this message

Someone told me that I can add a code in the websites saying that belongs to same site but they use different languages. How can I do that? Anyone knows and can explain to me how to do it? :-)

At this part will be solved!

Thanks

Not trying to be a dick by just posting a link and not offering direct advice, but this article is what you should be doing as far as internationalization. Google supports the way that you are currently doing it with subdomains, as well as recommending it:

https://support.google.com/webmaster...r/182192?hl=en

The problem that I see though, is that if your different landing pages (subdomains) are in the appropriate languages, Google will detect that and will not consider it to be duplicate content and thus not penalize you for it. I think it is likely that the problem isn't with your site and the latest Google update, but with other sites and the latest Google update - meaning that other sites have benefited from the update rather than your's suffering from it.

If that is the case, then you won't be able to make structural changes to address the decline, you will have to improve and/or update your site.

Thank you for your reply mate.

I have read the link that you gave me above. But my english is a little poor and the page seems a little confuse.

What should I do in my case?

My main domains www.domain.com
French: fr.domain.com
Italian: itdomain.com
Russian: rudomain.com
Spanish: es.domain.com

What code should i put in the subdomains?
They have all the same content, but all text is translated.

EDIT: It seems that this is the solution for me:
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077

But where to add the code?
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="es" href="http://es.domain.com/" />

In main www.domain.com ?

EDIT2:

I have added this code in my main www.domain.com:
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr" href="http://fr.domain.com/" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="es" href="http://es.domain.com/" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="it" href="http://it.domain.com/" />
<link rel="alternate" hreflang="ru" href="http://ru.domain.com/" />

Should I put in all subdomains too?

It happened to some of my sites too. Slowly dropping for about a year and half. No messages in webmaster tools, link profile ok, so who knows. Anyway I think that Google doesn't consider the same content in different languages as the same.

I've noticed that big sites now rank even more better and smaller sites are pushed away. That may be part of the problem.

That looks like either duplicate content or "spammy" backlinks. If its a backlink issue, your going to have to clone your site onto a new domain. How unique is your content?

Shit happenz, got the same loss of traffic, too. But i just make new sites, let the old one as they are and maybe with the next update they'll return to the top. Changes to the old sites are just too difficult i think, because you don't know why they got fucked...

2 things:
  • your screenshot shows that your overall traffic is dropping but doesn't show how much of your actual search traffic is dropping.
  • It's almost impossible for anyone here to pin point reason(s) for your search traffic drop from Google update unless they are well aware of both your site and Google update.

I read and replied cuz one of my sites dropped search traffic as well, then i fixed few things and it jumped back up but then again it's below average now.

It's definitely not penguin. Looks like you started to lose organic traffic from Feb, it might be part of Panda which is basically cleanup of spammy serp result by Google.

I think i know which site you are talking about here. While your site is a decent one i won't count on lots of organic traffic for generic term for a long time unless you have lots of inbound link pointing to you with that keyword.

e.g. "free porn video" is a hot term and raking for it changes all the time(in both US and all around the world) because people spam serp result. So, Google keeps updating algo for terms like that.

Your website most likely fall into above scenario. If it was for duplicate content due to your different sub-domains, your traffic would have falled a long time ago. HTML improvement won't cost you so much traffic either.

Here is algo update log: moz dot com / google-algorithm-change
Here is what was done in penguin very recently : youtu dot be / xQmQeKU25zg [Matt did mention about porn ;)]

I can share what my problem was or at least what i think my problem was. When my traffic fell for the first time in May, i thought my content was't good enough but later i found out(from webmaster tool) Google was getting lots of soft 404 from my site due to some SQL issue. So, i blocked Google to index those pages since they were only relevant page and not main content page. Traffic went back up within few weeks but it dropped again. So, this time i fixed the SQL issue and removed the blocking. Hopefully within next few weeks, traffic will go back to normal again.

You don't need any SEO company to fix this. The only problem is the bounce rate. 1.18 pages/visit won't rank you.Try to keep the visitors on your site, why should the website rank higher if almost 90% of visitors exit after only pageview?

On the reviews page, the Premium Sites list can be improved I think, instead of pointing to the sponsor page you can point to the sponsor review, in this way you will keep the visitor on your site and improve the bounce rate.To let the visitors visit the sponsor you can make the "Click here to visit" link more visible, e.g an image with the sponsor's name alt tag.
Nice job with the css sprites for the sponsors icon.

What is the domain? G is very sensitive to thin or duplicate content these days, but it's really easy to fix with a tiny script as long as you can identify what's winding up in supplemental. Knowing what to noindex, what to point to a canonical page, etc is really important.

Edit: I ask for the domain cause I can just go check for you now.

Same things is happend to me, do not know your site, but first remove meta keywords you should know that bing use meta keywords now to easy detect fake/spam site, i think google have same algoritam now, use nofollow for external link, use H tags, if you do not have unique content use some spiners.. and just wait, check google analytics and you will know when google try back you on road...

Also design strucure is realy important now, check all this and you will back traffic

Hi arena18, thank you for your reply and for your time to helping me.

About the meta keywords, are you saying to remove this from header?
Code:
<meta name="keywords" content="" />
I notice that all main competitors that appears in 1st place on google have the meta keywords, so I think that I don't need to remove right?
You can also check the giants of porn industry like pornhub.com, redtube.com etc... all of them have meta keywords and are very well ranked.

Yes im talking about meta keywords, you can remove it...
As i said in first post, google not use meta keywords for rank last few years, bing/yahoo bots still check for this meta tag but also you will never get a better rank because you have meta keywords on your site, so you can remove it...

How is old your domain ?

arena18, my domain was created on 2011.
Yes, I know that is recent. But I had a stable traffic of 10-17k daily before, so I think that is possible to recover that traffic, right?

Can someone confirm this about meta keywords?

Thanks!

EDIT: Ok, got the answer from Mat Cutts himself:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=RBTBEfd7z_Y
But I still think that is not enough to get my traffic back, since many giants have this meta tag and are well ranked. But hey, thank you anyway arena18

Having meta keywords is not the issue so remove or keep it, I say keep it as some older search engines still use it.

I will tell you what happened to one of my sites as the exact same thing happened on one of them, and it was down to duplicate content on other domains. I removed the other domains and my site after 8 days or so returned back in the serps.

Is your domain still showing in google when you "domain.com", and have you checked webmasters for any manual spam actions?

It seems very similar to what I have experienced, and I am thinking having your content translated on other webpages is the issue here.

@EN1GMA i assumed you have followed all the suggestions here. If your traffic is not back to where it was months ago, you might look into getting traffic from other sources than just organic. Also, i content is king. Google is updating algo all the time. If you got million visitors 6 months ago and your content hasn't updated much(specially if it is a directory), most likely Google will drop traffic. Not much you can do about it. Good luck!

Content is always the king, update your website if its 6 months old. Check other domains that maybe has the same content as yours, it will pull you down. And yes, research for google updates time to time. Get that traffic back!

What is the CMS the site is on? If wordpress there is a pretty good plugin that use the google analytics api to properly inform google of bounce rate, it took mine down from 35% to around 11% in 2 days.

Obviously that will help your SEO.

Have all spammy backlinks been removed?

Have you checked in Webmaster Tools?

Less likely to be meta keywords than SPAM or DC.

Both are easy to fix. Google can take a few weeks to acknowledge spam removal though
