:tongue Newbie questions: Membership Site or not?

I want to introduce myself briefly and ask for advice from those who really have experience in adult sites.

I'm a graphic designer and I had some success with CPA advertising, especially on Facebook. Unfortunately, it is a lot more difficult to be successful in this business nowadays. I did few campaigns on TrafficJunky but nothing enough to make a living.

So, as I can do websites and I have some experience with advertising, I decided to build my own adult websites. I know I'm not the first to have this idea but I think this market is big enough for a new player. So, here I am.

I'm sure that I can succeed because I'm a hard worker but I also hope to find help here or elsewhere but preferably here! ;)

I thought to do a membership site with real amateur pics and videos but I don't know which service I should use for a membership site. I know "Kajabi" but it's quite expensive and I don't need a lot of features. Should I buy an existing site? (If I find one for sale on this forum.) Is it a good idea? Do you have any better suggestion to start in this business? In short, do you have any tips for a newbie?

Thanks for reading!

Thought this thread might help you.

Hey,

First, welcome the board! I'm bit of a newbie myself but I'll think you'll find some good stuff here.

Anyway, you and I are in different fields altogether and I'm certainly not versed enough to give you advice but I'd recommend looking at the GFY Educational Series threads on here. There's some good stuff on there, one in particular but I haven't hit 30 yet so I can't post the damn thread!

Ugh...it's about six posts down from the top, it's about starting in the BIZ for newbies.

Check it out, its pretty informative, again, for someone who wants to start dipping their toes in the water.

Hey,
Thanks a lot, I have looked around but not too much at this thread. I will check it. There is a lot of information on this forum so that is fine to have a good starting point.

For a membership site you will need to have content (photos and videos). payment processor. hosting and software. But traffic is king!

I have a VPS and I have found some content on this forum. I think that I can use PayPal as a payment processor but I don't know if it is correct and I don't know which software I need. The purpose of my post is to find the answers.

You can't use PayPal. You'll get your account banned. It is against their TOS.

paypal is not for porn, vps is not for membership site, and you have legal rights for content you are going to sell access to.

Why VPS is not for membership site?
What do you use instead of PayPal?..

If you have these kinds of questions about opening an adult membership site, then my advice is not to open one...yet.

First step would be to build some sites which you can use to promote other people's membership sites. Learn how to attract and retain adult traffic, how to filter and funnel it to the adult paysites, cam sites, dating and other adult offers which bring you the greatest return for your work, time and financial investment. There's a lot to learn that you have no way to know yet, and at this point you don't even know what you don't know yet.

Once you really understand how everything works in the adult segment of the market, then you can make serious plans to open your own paysite(s), if that's what you still want to do by then. But that's not the only way to make a living in adult marketing, so you may find your own talents and interests are a better fit for something other than running membership sites.

Thanks Simon, I think that it is good advices. I will learn to walk before to run!

My only concern is that all the adult sites that I see are very similar. IMO, I think that I will have to be very creative to stand out from others. I built a site 2 weeks ago with "easyXsites" and, until now, I have earned a "big"... $0.02 with PlugRush!

That is why I thought to buy some fresh content and build a membership site but maybe I can just do an original site without membership? I could probably sell ad spaces and/or put my own CPA offers...

As Simon suggested, I would build other types of sites first. I would also suggest to find a partner when you'll feel you're ready to start a bigger project.

You could also try to find a partner now and join an existing project if you already have a portfolio.

Can I find a trustable partner on this forum? Or maybe you know a best place to look for a partner?.. ;)

I don't have a portfolio yet but I bought some content and I can certainly invest some time and money.
