You are right, that is the case with most escorts. But there were cameras there and many "porn stars" only do porn in order to boost their escort rates. The lines are blurry in some case But there's no place for coercion or exploitation when there are plenty of willing girls to shoot. A similar scenario happened with a casting couch site in Arizona a few years back so this seems to be an old trick. Maybe it will stop now with this case getting so much publicity.

Pretty sure the case is based on the deceptive story of swimwear shoot, not on the fact they were promised no one would see their porn scene publicly, that is not important here.
Porn is porn, no matter if public or not.

The point is that they were , with the use of deception, induced to do porn. They travelled a long distance and when it turned out to be a porn shoot, they could not just say "no" due to the fact they needed the money to get back home. It doesn't matter what kind of porn. There is a civil case, that is probably based on breaching the contract/model release when they published the content - and that's why I believe many of those models originally even didn't know this was a criminal case, it just turned out to be after they filed for the civil suit.

OK so after reading some facts on the doc, I'm seeing these girls were each paid $3,000usd+ for video work. And they signed 2257 model releases. And they were all 18+

That is a lot of money. The most I've paid ever was $900 a scene for agency pornstar and $700 for a fineass no-name amateur. These girls got $3000+, none of them gave the money back, all of them I assume finished their scene. I'm not feeling much sympathy here for the girls as a producer, talent, webmasters, etc myself. They were not exploited with that grade of pay. They would probably complain if they got $10k. I think it goes to show you too sometimes the more you pay the more you make yourself a target of exploitation. Speaking from experience. The problem is, and what shimmy missed, is that some of these girls were allegedly held against their will, forced to finish scenes that they initially didn't agree to or they wouldn't get paid (coercion), and some were allegedly raped by the performer, plied with alcohol, rushed through their contracts etc.

The plaintiffs built the entire case for the feds with all the witnesses, especially all the girls GDP had working for them, convincing the girls that their fictitious videos were great and nobody ever found out. Plus the had the old camera man and the secretary coordinating all this fraud.

Anyone familiar with their videos would know that these weren't exactly willing participants and it has been discussed online for years. I don't even pay attention to their content but remember girls being shocked at getting creampied, forced to sit there instead of running off to clean up as they obviously wanted, etc. They also often looked like they were being hurt with hard fucking, just watch their eyes / hands.

Some were more into it, but damn, these people were absolutely brutal and it is at least obvious in hindsight.
