What's happening with .AI domains?

AI porn sites with .ai extension are switching to .com en masse.
Does anyone know why?

The .xxx effect... Sound good at first, but quickly realize they're pure shite.

I was just about to make the same thread.

The .ai extension of a few adult sites are not working, so they have obviously been taken down.

Others, such as Porn.ai are still working fine. Maybe Steve Lightspeed can tell us more about what's going on.

Most likely it's sites that were offering 'reface' or 'undress' options?

.AI extension does not allow porn nor has it ever allowed porn.

Not surprising, always struck me as a weird choice.

The cost to renew a .ai is like $100, while a dot com is only $12.

Many credit card processors are hesitant to handle transactions for AI based sites, and having a .ai domain makes it difficult to argue otherwise. Also, while there are currently no explicit content restrictions on .ai domains, Anguilla could theoretically introduce rules prohibiting adult content in the future. Overall, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

A similar thing happened in 2023, but all the sites were restored after a couple of days:
https://m.gfy.com/fucking-around-and...bans-porn.html

I got an email from Seduced.ai informing affiliates that they had been banned and to switch links to Seduced.com It seems it's just AI porn generators being hit, as I haven't seen any AI GF sites down.

Yeah, that was some bullshit and could happen again at any time.

They probably had all their domains renew at once and didn't want to pay $100 renewal few on each of their 50 stupid .ai domains.

Exactly. I don’t think people realize that Anguilla can legally ban adult content on .ai at any time, fully complying with ICANN regulations. China did the same with .cn, setting a clear precedent.
