Though Chinese are more capable of living in poverty if circumstance dictated it, and they do have a TON of other customers who would definitely keep buying. The US on the other hand would have a totally worthless dollar, and suffer post war German levels of hyperinflation .. it would pretty much be the end of the US as we know it.. and we all know Americans have never had to deal with true poverty.

America isn't going to attack China, and while China will prod the US from time to time, they aren't gonna attack you guys either. In 10 years they will be the world superpower anyway, and they know to just sit back and wait. America is digging its own grave ... that free trade agreement didn't work out too well for the US unfortunately.

i don't disagree with this. :thumbsup however, things can change- paradigm shift.

its not about you - but from what i heard the US owes china 300 BILLION $ ... that IS living on debts, no? :2 cents:

I hate to say this, but China would kick the U.S.'s ass. They are just as modern, with a helluva alot more resources and people... We would be toast...

Until only very recently their military was rather landlocked since they had virtually no Navy. That is apparently changing though.

Anyways, those of you saying China owns the US should look at history. During depressions export based economies got it the worst. If China can not keep their people working there will be a billion people out for blood and putting them to work building cities that no one lives in is not sustainable.

DateDoc 08-06-2010 09:22 PM

This is great news for US Defense Contractors. Now they can build missiles to shoot the Chinese missile down. Cold War II begins.

I have never heard it before now, but it rings of accuracy.

Good excuse for more military spending and filling the pockets of the defense industry. Just scare the paranoid retards into supporting it.

Flip the coin, is China scared the US will invade them? US has a major military presence patrolling outside Chinas waters, do they run around thinking their world is going to end at the hand of 300 million round eyes? What planet are people from where they think a full out war between China and US is possible? Don't want your carriers sunk don't float them so close, wouldn't happen anyway, it's a face thing. US would be fucking pissed if China propped up Cuba and had military bases in the Carribean with full carrier groups off the gulf coast. That's what China has, China isn't worried about it because they live in reality. Their missiles are a simple counterbalance saying 'hey, we're tired of you floating so smug in our traditional sphere of influence, back off a bit.'

This world is so intermingled through our economies the only countries that are targtets of war are the havenots where there's nothing to lose in bombing the shit out of them to fill the pockets of the industrialists and keep the generals blood lust met.

of course it's about me. i make up part of the credit system. if more people lived debt free, then less debt is owed to the creditor.

im not sure if u guys know the US has the largest gold reserve in the world... if the US defaults on all its debt, every US bond holders will suffer big time financially.... no one wants this to happen...

If the US does default, all the debt will be written off, not too bad. With that massive gold reserve, the US can have 2 options:
(1) trade gold for cheap craps from China
(2) launch the WW3, all countries freeze on their FX trade, everyone will trade gold for goods and weapons... the US could potentially emerge as the super nation once again...

Commies they maybe; they are not stupid.

Sally.

Yep you are right they ain't stupid. But if they really wanted to fuck us all they have to do is dump alll the securities they hold and the economy would really tank.

The republicans are the ones who made the economic policies that made it cheaper to send jobs to china instead of keepong them here. Just look at all the corporations that have juge presences in China. So in essense we gave them the bucks to build their missles.

Which is exactly the reason they will not attack us. If we stopped importing Chinese products their economy would plummet like and old school lawn dart.

Chinese can't do shit. The U.S is fighting 2 wars and they could still kick Chinas ass.

The U.S spends more money on its military then the rest of the world combined, they have the most powerful military in the world BY FAR. China will never be a superpower like the U.S.

I was actually neutral towards china until the recent drama they had with Japan, they showed how petty and butthurt they are over the ass kicking they got from Japan 70 years ago.

Japan really needs to drop the pacifist bullshit and remilitarize, because if china is a threat to anyone it's Japan.

A remilitarized Japan will put China in it's place, which is the T shirt factory of the world. No super power there, also people need to stop mentioning India among potential superpowers, what the fuck, they can't even put together a couple of buildings. Everybody's a fucking superpower these days.

As I understand it nobody said they did. But irregardless, the owner of TBill is holder of a debt guaranteed by the government of the US.

Second, if the US is such a shitty market why would they invest/risk 28% of their countries profit in another market besides their own?...would you?

I didn't say it was a shitty market. But it is still a debt the treasury owes someone. Sure if the owner holds til maturity they get the valuer of the bill plus the interest. If the holder cashes out early yes they may take a hit depending on how it is traded. But in either case who owes the money to them. That's right, the US Treasury.

well here is where the confusion is and let me explain it in simple terms. If you "invest" in a country or company you have an option to cash out at anytime regardless. That's called an investment. Now, if the country or company goes broke and your investment is gone, then they "owe" you money. In Short, China still has an option.

I have a few hundred Canadian dollars laying around from my last fishing trip..in your thinking, I could say the country of Canada owes me money.:2 cents:

Fuck, ok as i said, china has an investment yes but the US Treasury sold the bonds and must pay on demand, That is one reason the Fuckin Teabagger are complaining the deficit is so high. And what makes up the deficit? Debt owed by the Treasury. And who does the Treasury owe this debt to? The Fucking Bill Holder, whether they collect now or later the Treasury is in hock for the amount of said Bill. Only way they wouldn't owe the orignal holder is if that holder sells to someone else. Then they are in hock to the new owner. I am not disagreeing that China sees it as an investment but the only reason the TBills are sold are to raise funds for the government to operate and are sold with the promise the holder to be paid back.

The US did not sell party of the treasury... they borrowed money and gave TB ... I will abstain from calling you names ... no point ....

" We did not force them ... " ... lol .....

Note to myself : call visa tomorrow as they sent me pre-approved cards ..I did not ask for them .. so I owe them nothing ... :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

This sounds like pig shit to me too. China owns 800bil in us treasuries.... Japan almost as much ~link~. You do realize that we have spent 3 trillion in bailout/stimulus and pledged a total of 11 trillion ~link~?

The Chinese cant do shit with their lousy 800billion...we can print that for them in a few days.
