I need a jump start in the world of out sourcing, what are the top sites used to hire people to work on piece and what i need to be careful about?

you should always find someone that you can get a referral on.
its also best for you to hire within your own country. much easier on language barriers and working hours.

Don't do shit without a referral. Even with a referral watch your back. Find an industry board for whatever industry and sign up. Make sure whoever you hire has rep to lose if he fucks you.

I use vworker and I'm always very highly rated from the people I employ. Almost all of them appreciate the fact that I'm very precise in what I want, have guidelines such as font size, font type, number of words per row and so on and so forth. If I need a design, I draw a simple image in MS Paint or even MS Word just to communicate my idea accross.

Labelling messages and comments with numbers is also helpful. That way you can go back and say message 4, question 5 you never answered for me and also when they answer make sure that they note which question they are answering to. It makes it much easier to communicate and keep things straight.

If you find someone who's good, either reward them with an instant bonus or quickly make them a new, private, project which preferrably can be quite well paid. Then they will be very positive towards you net time you come around with a project.

Don't think that you can "develop the project as you go". Come to the outsourcing site with a clear project, well laid out and detailed, now you just need someone to do it for you. This is what those sites and their workers do best. Don't make the mistake thinking it can be like your ordinary worker in the office were you sit down, discuss and try, make changes and try again. The geographical distance and the language barriers are often to high to overcome all that.

I recommend going to firms with a proven track record of dependability and proficiency in offering business consultancy & management services. All the sites mentioned above are freelance sites wherein staff are working from home.

I suggest to hire an outsourcing company instead of a freelancer. because leased staff are permanent workers of a company and are easy to reach in case you need them.

i have many people working for me from odesk. yes, i have hired some shitters, but overall the experience has been good and i have some cheap labor..

my best guy came from a referral...

he has his masters in computer science and i pay him $100 a week...

he is from the phillipines...

elance.com but on a project basis It always seems I spend more time sorting to find someone and then trying to explain the project then they spend doing the project. I think the language issue is also part of it. which is why above was good suggestion. really need to have outsource guys with english first language especially when the work is being done remotely
