I think they would be go to war in next month because of The Senkaku islands .China says The Senkaku islands is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.but japan says that belongs to them.

now, the emotional issue have boil over in China, where protests have already taken place and Internet forums are full of anti-Japanese rhetoric.

It depends.I guess USA would not sending in the military in order to protect Japanese territory .

We used to have and I think we still have a treaty with Japan that requires us (the USA) to defend Japan if it is attacked by any country which would include China.

I for Japan, they Technology in front of the whole planet and they have such a small territory.

US is prodding this along because they want Japan a part of the new FTA's. And, chickenhawks in US are itching to knock China back to the stone age. SE Asia will breathe a deep sigh of relief when China gets knocked down a few pegs. No, China, no debt.

I also don't believe it would simply be a China/Japan war. That maritime region is important. Many allies of both countries would be involved.

What is seen as weirdness coming from Japan is just the West in the prism of the japanese mind.

So, in actuality they're just showing you how weird you are to them.

Of course, people eat it up and think the weirdness stems from Japan.
