1 in 4 Americans don?t know Earth circles Sun
|
LOL. They polled 2,200 people out of 320 million legal citizens. That's not even one one-thousandths of a percent of the population.
I question the intellect of anyone that takes this seriously… feel free to continue your American bashing. ;-) |

If Slovakia mattered, there would be a poll of Slovakians, but you don't and there isn't.
Besides, if I were a Slovak, I'd be much more concerned about Slovakians voting in that Nazi Marian Kotleba at the polls for Governor of central Slovakia than I would be about what Americans think. |

Yet, we are still wealthier and more powerful then your country, so what does that say about yours... :winkwink:
|
It's good to see we Americans are still a target.. If/when that stops we probably need to be concerned.

Your nick is missing the "N" - because clearly you are full of envy of the US

Considering Kepler's first law of planetary motion says that all planets travel in elliptical paths, perhaps they were merely interpreting the question literally. |

No way would you find any anti-American sentiment on Russia Today . . . . seems legit.

Probably the same idiots that go to church.

I like RT, they have some really good investigative journalists. https://youtube.com/user/breakingtheset is very good. |
I could believe that--

There are a lot of fucked up things about America and we should always be critical of ourselves and look inward at how many problems there are with our society so I like RT - some great guys like Max - http://rt.com/shows/keiser-report/ just remember the only reason he has his job is so he will lash out at America negatively. RT is occasionally critical (barely, rarely) of Russia too - the fucked up thing is that Russians of course are never allowed to see any of that in their own country. |

A quarter is "like a third"...LOL |
Not a surprise and the results would be the same in other countries. It's not really important for somebody who sells insurance, works a fry machine or even a lawyer or doctor to have a basic knowledge of astronomy.
We need to produce great scientists and innovators. I think schools should be starting much earlier to identify those who have talents in specific fields and nurture and invest in them. The rest will find their place in life, as Judge Smails said 'The world needs ditch diggers too'. The problem is there are less and less ditch digging type jobs. The Internet and this forum is filled with people with knowledge and opinions about everything yet have no real valuable skills at anything. |

And for your information, yes she does know that. She has been learning it in school. She also knows the names of all the planets (almost) and that the earth turns once every 24 hours which is the reason we have night and day. Actually, sometimes she amazes me what she learns. Last week she was walking about Venus. Thankfully she gets quality schooling and obviously it shows. |

I love these on-the-street polls that expose an entire nation's sub-basement IQ to the world. So funny!
We should do one in Slovakia. :D |

For example my daughter (and most if her friends) can count to 100 comfortably, can add and subtract between 1 -10, know all colors and can read simple books. By the time she was 3 my daughter could complete a 46 piece puzzle, I don't consider this unusual for other children in her class. They recently learnt about the planets and the cycles around the sun. She can also name over 5 different countries. She can also speak French and sing French sings better than I can. |
How can this surprise anyone? 3 in 4 black Americans don't even know who their own father is; how can they possibly know anything about astronomy.

show me where 4 year olds grasp the concept of the sun and the earth revolving around it. Just 1 link and I will stand corrected. |
