Update: I have only had about 4 cigs since then, and none in the last 15 months.

No cravings here. The trick wasn't to quit smoking, but to quit nicotine. No gum, patches or ecigs. Just cold-turkey worked best. The first 8 days were horrible, but it slowly started getting better after that. Around 3 or 4 months in, it got pretty easy.

The cough will persist for at least 2 months (depending on how long you smoked for)...with some very nasty stuff coming out during that time. If it continues after that, see a doctor. Good for you! Welcome to the club of ex-smokers!

It's just your lungs trying to clean themselves out. If you've been smoking for a while all your cilia is probably dead. Give it a few weeks and you should be feeling better.

exactly - ecigs, patches etc. just make it more difficult cause nicotine is what you are actually addicted to - good job!

I'm in Seattle for the holidays and its fucking cold... want to stop smoking? go to a place where you cant smoke inside, and its rainy and cold outside... I dont even have the urge to smoke.

My advice is : avoid places that let you smoke and drink at the same time, or you will be smoking again.

If you're 3-4 weeks in and you get drunk, yeah, probably.

At first I would recommend not drinking at all, (easier to fight the urge once you given it up for a while).
