This topic has been asked and answered many times on this board ...

- There is no shave mechanisms in the NATS software

- Yes a program can mess with other things to create 'shaving', which has nothing to do with the NATS software, this can be done regardless of any back end software

- If TMM (NATS) finds out about it they said they'll void the license and take action

If you don't trust a program, run through your own test sale or simply don't work with them. This is something I do often.

There are a few low tech shaving techniques I have discovered by accident:

Put a biller on the cascade and "forget" to configure postbacks, the result will be rebills (and refunds) not showing.

Set the denial url to a secondary biller that is not configured in Nats billing admin, a very light shave will be the result.

Put a join URL somewhere in the tour that resets the tracking cookie, a few surfers will click it, that is another way to shave.

But how members will get access to member area if NATS don't register them? And they will not if postbacks URLs are not pointing to NATS script

"satisfy any" clause in .htaccess with 2+ member auth methods is one way...

This is how we're making our members areas accessible by both customers who joined through nats tours, and customers who will join through our ccbill only tours (coming this week). We're doing this to give affiliates a choice on which to promote.. nats or directly through ccbill.

Back on topic.. The only way I can think of to shave nats (that would actually be worthwhile) would be to forcefully overwrite the tracking cookie.. but again, if they catch you, your account will get terminated.

But seriously.. why cheat to begin with? (not directed at the person I'm quoting).. I mean seriously.. if you're so hard up and don't want to pay affiliates, then don't create an affiliate program and just bust ass to promote your sites yourself.

I personally can't stand all of the thieving scum in this industry. As small a program as we are (2 man team at present), since we launched in 2006 we haven't screwed over, or cheated, a single affiliate, not a single one. Why is it so fucking hard to be honest anymore?

Well i ain't sure but this is what's happening right now to something i'm advertising that pulls me lots of coins

It makes no sense and with grey hair and being online since 97 ...
I'm investigating a little more before pulling out names.

Yes. And there are many other possibilities which I'm not going to detail so as to not give any scumbags new ideas. One no brainer is to simply change the cookie life every now and then.

But let me make it clear I'm not necessarily saying that Nats has a shave module or such. I'm stating that there are always loopholes which can be utilized to steal your commission. It's not just Nats either. Many people believe you can't shave a CCbill only program. That's false. There are many tricks to essentially do the same thing. Wake up folks.

I signed up for an interesting little program called Linkcontrol. It allows me to have two or more identical landing pages using the same link with the same content provided by two different affiliate programs. I can then compare the conversion rates to see if one is converting significantly better than the other. I can also change the landing pages by time of day, geographical IP, or just test a new landing page while 95% of my traffic continues to the existing page (don't mess up a good page until you have a better page.)
