I read the topic like "Affiliate Manager Slavery".. :D

I hope they dont pay them too much, some "affiliate managers" dont seem to know anything about this biz, seo or anything else that can be useful.

Grunt Affiliate Manager- 200-250$ monthly

Elite Affiliate Manager- 400$ + 10% monthly

Jackal Affiliate Managers - Get paid for the work they do. (programmers and designers mainly)

Hunter Affiliate Managers 900-2000$ + 5-10% Sale monthly

Sometime's it pays to be an Affiliate, other time's it pays to be the Manager. Just depends what your better at doing, at least that's the way i looked at it before.

Times have change greatly in the past two years in terms of affiliate managers. I'm sure many people will tell you their "back in the day" stories when they were making 6 figures. But in terms of today's affiliate manager I found most were making base salaries as low as $9 to $10 per hour and then bonuses based off of performance.

Since most companies are very short sited and only want you to go after new affiliates, leaving you no time to really maintain the relationships you have with current affiliates or those you have already brought in, those guys quickly die off leaving you no real chance at long term earnings potential.

There are a few smarter program owners out there so it may be worth your time to try and seek out that kind of employment if you have some affiliate manager experience behind you.

These are the kind of programs who pay a base salary of well I know one girl who makes a base salary of $2,500 a month plus 10% of everything her affiliates make. She spends almost all of her time working the affiliates they already have and helping them to make more money. She does rather well for herself. I am told her income is early in the 6 figure category.

There aren't many companies who realize the importance of maintaining relationships with current affiliates and helping them to reach their true potential, but there are some and my advice to anyone out there with experience in the affiliate game should shift their efforts to finding work with one of those companies because I can't imagine work with the others guys is going to be around much longer. Those kind of jobs seem to be dying off quickly.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

I start my affiliate guys at $22k plus commission. If you have experience, good contacts, good rep we will always work with the person to find a happy salary for both parties. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

We also provide health, dental and vision insurance, 401k, FSA, Vacation/PTO, and iPads.

Commission is $1 per join with a monthly quota of 500 sales. My guys blow this out of the water, so there is still plenty of money to be made as a rep.

That's why I never got the constant job jumping, Sly and Nadya have been with us for four years and I don't think plan on leaving any time soon. I hope not at least.

Back in 2001 - 2004 it was more than a great job if you could produce... And back then, producing was almost too easy... These days the people that are the best at it are working for good companies and those companies pay them extra for their expertise.

So back in 2004 most of them made very decent money considering many worked from home. These days they do alright or barely are making enough to live. Not enough to leave. Except for those mentioned above.

Back in 2004 you could find a manager as an affiliate and together you could increase your sales... They might hook you up with an in-house designer and you get headers, banners, all kinds of shit. Now you won't get this level of service unless you can show that you can do a minimum of 10 sales a day.

Any affiliate of ours that want custom banners, graphics, members passes, hosting, domains, tube clips etc. ICQ or email me and I will see to that It gets done.

I have 12 years experience as an affiliate and know my way around SEO and blogs good so if any of our affiliates need help or just someone to brainstorm ideas with, get in touch.

You don't understand why people might leave a job for a better position? Not every company is as progressive as topbucks or has the money behind them that topbucks does. Also, since when do you own topbucks?

When Kevin handed me the company on a silver platter at the company meeting last week.

Seriously, where did I say I own TopBucks?

Well you mentioned when you start "your" affiliate guys. Would that be not kevins employees? So what about not understanding why people would leave a company for a better opportunity?? Think everyone at TB would do so well without the financing behind them like at TB??

An Affiliate Managers job description is not to help you optimize your site for search engines, or to help you get traffic to your site, that's your job.

It is to be your point of contact for the company your are doing business with. Also, to manage your account (payments, etc), provide you any resources you might need, and help you optimize your conversions and traffic to their products.

Of course it helps if an affiliate manager has some well-rounded knowledge beyond account management.

Yes, "my" guys meaning my employees I hire, manage, and can fire. I do their reviews, salaries, bonuses, etc. Just like I'm one of Alli's guys.

I understand why people leave jobs, what I don't get is constant jumping around. I've worked at TB for five years now and have had offers that would double my salary. I stay at TB cause I love my job, the people and the stability. How do you know where you could potentially be with a company if one only stays there a year? I wasn't always a manager, I grew and was promoted into that position and I believe if I stay there longer I will grow beyond Sales Director.

I understand people taking another job, I'm not that stupid Bryan. You must have a hard on for my thoughts on affiliate managers.

Kristin,
No hard feelings but you come across sometimes that you're better than everyone else that basically does the same job as you. I did the same as you at PB. obviously PB went a different direction than TB did. You're right when you say TB is stable and that is exactly my point. You work for a company that is stable and extremely progressive. How many affiliate companies that were massive back in the day are still standing? We've worked together and no issues I'm just passing along sediments of what I've heard from several others that have been around this industry for 6plus years.

I have a rock solid team that I think does above and beyond what SOME other sales teams do at other programs. I have found our sales tactics that we've learned and optimized very effective whereas I see others go a different route. Is that bad? No, that route might work for that rep/company. And if that comes across as better than everyone else, not intended.

I can guess two of the six year vets you talk about too.

You work for a company that is stable and extremely progressive. How many affiliate companies that were massive back in the day are still standing? We've worked together and no issues I'm just passing along sediments of what I've heard from several others that have been around this industry for 6plus years.
how many gigs did you have total in 6+ years?

My hat is in with Kristin.
5yrs plus at the same outfit is huge.

It might be a record in the history of adult affiliate rep employment.
Most programs do not even last 5 years.

too many idiots in this industry that used to call themselves reps.....affiliate managers what not....a lot of them failed under my watch.... resigned because they had no clue what they were doing, cashing in checks..... "fail"

its funny how people are in here talking....thinking they know...

any person that knows he can bring in joins...

My name is NickB. since 2004 with the same company.... [email protected]
I am more than happy to give qualified people a chance!

Please send in the resumes, thank you!

We have three people hitting 10 year and 16 hitting five year mark this year. Two have been hired in the last two/three years, all the rest are around the seven to eight year mark. It's pretty cool, we are a strong team as a whole.
