I got a new bike, try not to drool

I got my sportster 4 months ago, today it was traded in to get this

99 Road King, 88, La Pera seat ( little over $500 seat ), air ride , after market pipes 18k miles
the color is Aztec orange.

I love the ride and how smooth this bike is, it's a real treat to open this up on the freeway. Already planning a ride up to Mt. Baldy next saturday. I'll take some pictures and share

Very nice but I would have kept the Sportster too. My little Sportster is huge fun to mess around on and the value of them is so little it's too much fun to get rid of and get a lot more use out of the bigger (heavier) one we bought after.

Cool bike.

My dad bought a switchback a year ago, right now he's on his way back on a trip that involved driving to Maine.

Enjoy your ride and make sure you are careful.

Pic below is nearly identical to what he has now.

the USA is a great country for theses type of bikes...with all the open roads and freeways it must be a dream to just cruise from place to place for no reason

the bike looks kick ass...

Sportster is just too small for me, I'm a big guy at 6'3" and still heavy. This bike is like getting the bike I always dreamed of having, but life got in the way. When we looked at the bikes, my GF kinda went straight to this one, she didn't want the flying couch, but still wanted comfort for a long ride. The orange is a classic Harley color. Going to take the morning off after giving her a ride to work and ride around a little. Having date night at a restaurant called the Six tonight.

congrats Vendzilla, that's a nice looking Road King, a sportster is way too small for extended trips. You're going to have an amazing time on that thing exploring California roads.

While picking up a part at the local Harley shop the other day another customer told me about http://pashnit.com/ it may be helpful in planning your rides around the state.

i'm tryin not to drool man! frack that bike looks good. but there's nothing like a touring frame hd and i like the convertablility of it, taking that windscreen off and letting that massive chrome headlight nacelle blind everybody with reflections has a big giggle factor.

i think i like it so much because it reminds me of my first harley, the 1984.5 flh king of the road

that seat is fucking plush i bet too, but you lose the solo saddle option, no biggie though.

my latest harley was the dyna, i swore that was my fav hd, i got it to handle very well, but i really think the rk is my fav of the current lineup. although i'm of the right size to grab a sportie and turn tha fucker into a badass bobber rat bike

ride the snot outta that thang ven!

1984.5 flh electra-glide king of the road: ( i took the batwing off and the backpack and ran it lean and mean, well as lean and mean as a hd tourer can get!lol)

talk about a couch! i kept the original saddle on too, hah, i should try and drag up some pics of the one i had.

Thanks for the link, I'm looking forward to the road that goes east from Redding California thru Weaverville on thru to the coast. It's a beautiful drive, but never done that on a bike, that's why HOG has an annual event there every year

Yes, that Le Pera seat is nice, I looked it up and it's built for tall riders. Very comfortable.
You can take the rear rack, back rest and windshield off all in less than 5 minutes. Then the bike looks very different. I was puzzled by a switch I found, one switch next to it turned off the running lights, but this one did nothing. I went to my buddies new motorcycle shop here in Van Nuys and he told me that it was an ACC switch, LOL, I don't have any of those!
I'm having date night with the GF tonight at The Six, http://thesixrestaurant.com/six/ she has been there I haven't, Lloyd will like this place, it has craft beers!
Anyone that has a bike and in LA that wants to ride, let me know. I'm going to MT Baldy this weekend for a buffet, going to be a good ride from the Valley

The new VROD's are sick looking, I saw a couple girls get on one, I was amazed the short one was the rider and the almost 6 ft tall girl was riding bitch, all blacked out, very very cool looking, I always wanted the big cruiser!!

You and I have very different ideas of what makes a craft beer or a good craft beer bar.

http://thesixrestaurant.com/six/?page_id=1222

Only 3 of those would I consider craft, and they are all by Lost Coast . . . one of my least favorite CA breweries.

Only 3 of those would I consider craft, and they are all by Lost Coast . . . one of my least favorite CA breweries.
I know very little about craft beers compared to you Lloyd. I have never been there and I think I tried Lost Coast once and didn't like it. The last craft beeer place I went to and really loved was Tony's darts away , everything was on tap, no bottles. They even had Orange Creme Soda on tap.

think about that

Their Great White sucks, they have an Indica IPA that is pretty good.

There are several beer brewers that also do soda, Goose Island for example. I would venture to say their root beer is better than 95% of the beer they brew (giving them the benefit of the doubt, that they must have something I haven't tried that I like)

On a road trip a couple years ago we stumbled onto Main Street Brewing in Cortez, CO - This guy brewed at least 9 different beers, raised his own Black Angus cattle for his burgers and steaks and brewed root beer and cream soda. It was so good that we made a +100 mile detour the next day to come back for lunch . . . and made a 500 mile detour to return a couple years later.

I had a crafted Root Beer at Tony's that really brought back memories of my childhood, back when they had real root beers. People now a days have no idea what a real root beer is suppose to taste like

Hell Yeah! that looks like an awesome multi-day trip, up to Redding then across the 229 to the 101 south to 1 then all the way home down PHC, just added to my "To Ride Soon" list.

I've spent the last year exploring the roads around the Central Coast and if you ever find yourself riding through the Santa Maria area and get a little hungry head to Nipomo and give Jocko's a try, without a doubt One Of The Best Steaks I Have Ever Had In My Life.
