Microsoft Onenote is now free

Microsoft announced that Onenote is now freeware. Available for the Mac and PC and apps for phones.

I tired it back in 2010 when I bought Office and wasn't too impressed. The newer version of it is pretty impressive. Withe the free skydrive space you can synch it all and use it on multiple PCs.

I'm going to give it a try and see how I like it.

So far today I really like what I see.

I never used it,but I've seen it recently and it looks pretty good. Still I like evernote that much I wouldn't trade it.

I have used Evernote for a while and like it, but it looks like Onenotes layout might work better for some projects I am working on.

I love that, like Evernote, you can clip full or partial websites.

Not really even a comparison

I use one note every day. It works well for importing images in and writing with a tablet. Exporting to PDF works well also.

Hmm so it looks like one note is the best for project management?

The thing I am really liking about it that you can create a notebook dedicated to 1 thing (or as many things as you want) then within the notebook create individual pages and each page can have tabs where you can add more notes or information about the page

For example I have a notebook for client work each client has a page I create tabs as needed for each project I am working on for that client.

You can add tags to everything so you can quickly search for specific things.

So I am using it, in a way, for project management. It seems like it would work well for larger projects as well.

Do you think it is better than actual project management tools?

To be honest I don't have much experience with project management software so I can't really compare the two.

I just watched youtube video on onenote, looks like I must try it.
One question - can you export notes to some format that could be readable for people without onenote installed?
For easier sharing with people who has no idea what one note is.
