Thanks Global Warming!

This past Sunday looked to be a nice day here so I decided to make a run up PCH to the Carmel area.

I did it in my shirt sleeves, didn't even need a jacket... 75F in January! If this is Global Warming I'll take more of it!

The surf was really high so you get some mist along the shore, I tasted salt more than once.

The Big Creek Bridge, it's a pretty unique structure being it's free-standing, it's not attached to the sides of the gorge in any way, it uses a slip-joint at each end to connect the roadway.

A (hopefully) permanent solution to the problem of The Devil's Slide, although it does take some of the fun out of the trip when you don't have to dodge falling boulders anymore.

Point Sur Lighthouse just north of Big Sur, I could live there.

The Bixby Bridge a few miles south of Carmel Highlands, built around 1932, one of my favorite old bridges.

All in all it was a near perfect day to take a ride, it was warm, I saw a bunch of whale spouts as I was riding along, the beaches between San Simeon and the Piedras Blancas lighthouse were covered with Elephant Seals.
I passed so many other bikes it was nearly impossible to get my left hand on the grip long enough to use my clutch and change gears

BTW this really has nothing to do with Global Warming, warm perfect days like that have been happening in the wintertime along the California coast for as long as anybody can remember. But the term "Global Warming" is such a dog-whistle for some gfy members that I really just couldn't resist.

You can blame any lectures and harangues on me

I was watching a History Channel special and saw a segment on building this bridge. So many people were dying that contractors turned to volunteer prison labor to finish it . Total cost an unbelievable $400,000.

In Phoenix one year it hit 122F. Imagine what happens when it hits 112F in Los Angeles.

Was it an episode of Modern Marvels? I remember watching that some years ago while I was living in South Florida and getting more and more homesick.

I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, 105 is a normal summer day. I remember one day I was working on the farm in the sun when the DJ came on the radio saying it was 113, meh.

My point is... That's no longer going to be "the high" but instead the daily average. People will get used to it - Folks in Phoenix deal with it - but they will hate it. California is what it is because of the weather; When the weather gets unbearable people will hate it or move.

I couldn't stand Phoenix. Fuck that shit. And now they have the dust storms? Seriously, fuck that.

Global warming has to do with not oxidizing the bottom of the ocean by cold currents, hence dangerous gases are being released in the water and the air resulting in total death on Earth. You still want global warming??? I do.. Hope everybody dies!

Apparently you can get up there it's actually on a closed military base, it's currently undergoing restoration but every time I go by the gate is closed
