I just got a birthday reminder from a Facebook friend I've known since high school, he died 2 years ago from cancer. How do you stop the reminder without unfriending, or do you just unfriend?

I use FB maybe twice a month and sometimes go back to his page to remember him but getting the notice randomly brings me back to his death.

What do you do in this scenario?

One of my x's died two years back she had a facebook and we had tons of conversations her Family decided to delete the account luckily i saved all our conversations. However all the photos were lost.

About four years ago I put in a friend request to a chick I used to date years ago. She accepted my request, but rarely posted, and never responded to me. After a year I noticed on her birthday her husband posted saying that he missed her. I didn't know her husband well - we met while we were in the Marines - but I hit him up and asked.... Turns out she had died from cancer about a year after we friended each other.

I keep her on my FB just as a reminder.

Oddly enough I've become friends with her daughter.

I'm fine with reminders but what I don't like is when family members take it on themselves to "maintain" the profile and make updates on their behalf and continually post from their profile to theirs of how they miss them or whatever.
