Popunder Code & Effect on SEO

I was wondering if anyone has a good working popunder script? It's been a while since I've used any and the old code I used doesn't work at all. I'm Using Wordpress does anyone know a good script to manage multiple URLs?

in 2020 do popunders have a bad effect on SEO? If so... I might keep it off.

You'll get a different answer for each reply. I personally don't have a clue, but start by reading this thread. It's about skimming, but I suspect the same principles would apply. Good luck. https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-b...e-revenue.html

popunder.js is the only good pop script, every network is using it.

No one knows exactly how pops affect SEO. But its definitely true that you can get a manual penalty for pops. I choose to mostly be paranoid and focus on other ad formats.

Yeah I might not use them due to paranoia. Great seo right now. What about those PM/Instant message cam/dating ads? Are those still good these days? Haven't tested those in a few years either.

I haven't had a problem with IM ads in half a decade of webmastering. Video sliders are good now too (they work the same as IM ads but its a vast video)

what you really want to focus on though is native ads and mobile banners. get those native ads looking just like the rest of your content and put 300x100 banners above video/content on mobile.

Google doesn't like popunders that open when you click anywhere on a page. Not only this can impact your SEO but they will also block ads on your site on Chrome if you don't "fix" the issue after they send you a warning.

If your script binds popunders to links or certain elements on the page rather than the entire page, you should be okay (at least until Google comes up with new policies).

I 've dropped the whole email collection strategy with popups to ensure to stay SEO clean. A long time ago.

Truth right here.

And it isn't just about google, its bad for users. The pop behavior needs to not interrupt the session.

Webmasters who put click-anywhere pops on their home page that interrupt the first click...I just shake my head.

So here's the thing about pops. You must code them right and place limits on them for them not to effect your SEO. If you do it right, then you will not have any problems.

Setting up trigger elements on the pops is important. Google will warn you about it in Google Webmaster Tools about pops triggering on Chrome when they are not suppose to show. Like when someone clicks on a blank background and etc.

Limiting pops is important too. Running them too many times per day may reduce time on site so be mindful of that. Also running quality ads is important as well.

We help our publishers with the setting up of our code because each site is different. Most of our pubs use KVS or Mechbunny so we already have the trigger elements ready to go for pubs using those templates. So far so good on our script being Google complaint and not affecting SEO.

My theory is yes, it hurts SEO, not to a huge extent but about the same as a push notification prompt that asks for the user consent to send notification on entry (not by clicking an action). I personally leave pops off my landing pages and would prefer a cleaner user experience to keep Google happy.
