It's amazing that he had so many online aquaintences/friends and still thought suicide was the only way out.

Does anyone have any idea what he was going through? Money problems? Heallth Problems?

I'd never got to know him but I'd read his post on other boards and he always seemed like a good guy.

Rest in peace.

There are a lot of people who go through depression in our industry nowdays it seems.

Very sad and disturbing it took Willy.

Was he going through some tough times in the past few months?
He seemed like such an upbeat guy.

Disturbing. Very Disturbing and sad.

RIP. I only wish there were another way.

I too would be intrested in a transcript or replay of DOKK's Radio show of last night.

When someone is considering suicide, it doesn't matter how many friends he or she has....they feel isolated from society...and, once the decision is made to die...they can seem upbeat and renewed.

What horrible news!! He just got married not too long ago and seemed like he had everything goin smoothe. He helped me the very first time I used free hosting Thanks WillyB for being such a nice guy and a helluva beer drinking buddy! Sorry none of us in the webmaster community could help you.

My sincere condolences to his family.

Depression... what a dangerous disease. No one can ever really know how bad people are feeling. What a wake up call to make sure your loved ones know how much you care about them.

I feel bad for so many reasons, for all the unknowns to why WillyB would take his life, and for Dokk who spent the last few hours of his life with him and detected nothing....

He was wonderful with newbies, and was always there for them, and he made everyone feel welcome at the NetSurprise booth and hospitality suites and AWE shows....

Does anyone have a way to contact Dora? Does she need any financial help for this funeral arrangements? Can somebody find out about this and post it here.

Wow, so sorry to hear. Rest in peace WB. I remember seeing him on the boards in the old days.

Life is so full of tragic endings sometimes. Its hard to comprehend why people do what they do but many choose this path. Over 800,000 people kill themselves each year. More than 2,000 people each day. That's mind boggling when you think about it. Close to the total of how many were killed in the WTC attack taking their lives voluntarily each and every day.

Problem is we live in a world that slaps us with so damn many stresses and pressures on our minds and souls. Its remarkable to me that far more people don't do it. I'm sure for everyone that does there are hundreds if not thousands that have seriously thought about it at one or more times in their lives.

I had a business partnership with the owner of Chippendales years ago and Steve had put out a contract hit on someone and got nailed on it and he was looking at decades behind bars in state prison and he chose to hang himself while he was in jail. Amazing, and he had everything in the world, a successful worldwide business, tens of millions of dollars, a nice family, and he just decided to end it all.

Life is hard, very hard. Even having success, money, family and friends often can't resolve internal depression. Its sad.

1000 Deaths

Each day I die a thousand deaths

Seeing your pale, too-quiet face.

Knowing you won't warm me with your breaths

I am cold inside, gasping, strangling,

Because you left your body dangling

In a convenient place.

Again and again I rise

From the ashes of my life.
Wanting to hold you, see light in your eyes,

But my arms are empty, my eyes yearn still

Because we buried your ashes on a hill

With your great-grandfather and his wife.
I wait for the time when I am old and so

Leave the pain along the way,

Of wishing you had fought to see life flow

To all the good times just ahead.

But you wouldn't wait, and I die instead

A thousand times each day.

Christine B. Smith 1997

I didn't know WillyB but I am all too familiar with the pain of being a survivor of suicide. My mother took her own life March 1st of this year.

It is causes a pain unlike any other. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, and family members.

My heart goes out to Dokk, who has to be wondering what he missed to have missed the signs...but, I doubt if anyone could have foreseen this....people who commit suicide usually hide it better than we're able to discern their plan.
