www.oc3networks.com

there's gotta be a reason why they host 40% of the industry.
i heard they are getting a badass new website very soon and going to rock the adult biz even more. bring that 40% up to 60% or something like that

I know them. And I know their website. I just don't believe they host 40% of all adult sites(if that is what this article says)

Oh btw a new design doesn't make you a better host btw ;-)

But then, he has no clue what he's talking about so it's not surprising.

By info from web, oc3 hosts around 700 domains, alot less then all other hosts i looked up (mojo, natnet, cwie, isprime, swiftwill). Might be flawed, but there's something to think about.

Is this Adult Domains or Adult Programs?

Programs, no oc3 does not host 40% of the Adult Programs. Most of my clients host with Swift, other wise I find it very even across the hosts and programs.

Now if this is Adult Websites, 40% is very incorrect. You could combine oc3, mojo, natnet, cwie, isprime, and swiftwill and you wouldn't even put a dent into the Adult Hosting Market.

700 domains? Where is that data? I have more than 700 domains, and I'm a very small fish in the domain world. I would be very shocked if even the smallest of those listed hosts only hosted 700 domains.

I think if you added up all of the hosts mentioned in this thread I believe the sum of how many sites hosts would still be far less than 40%. It's obviously a mis-quote or mis-information. We have to give Milan some credit as he's far too smart to honestly think that he hosts that much of the adult internet.

Most of the tools available online are pretty inaccurate. http://www.webhosting.info attempts to gather information but it's pretty far off. They list based off nameserver information and report the following:

CWIE.net 6268
NationalNet.com 5584
Webair.net 40819
Oc3networks.com 689
MojoHost.com 8806'
ISprime.com 12524

There's no tool that can even come close to being accurate in terms of how this is reported. Remember that all of us hosts have hosts that setup under us and use their own nameservers, so those statistics won't report under something like this. Also, remember that lots of clients do their own DNS. Just according to our own DNS we have some 13,000+ domains in there so as you can see there is definitely a huge margin of error, I expect even moreso on the reporting for some of our competitors like NatNet, etc.

Besides which the question could be asked a number of ways - are you thinking that it's fair to count parked domains that aren't really in commerce, total number of actual clients, servers, traffic pushed, etc.

What is true to say is that all of the above mentioned hosts are committed to the industry and host a great many adult clients and their web sites. As far as who is the largest goes, I know it's not us.

Thats just my 2 cents.

Happy New Year!

Brad

Aren't you guys just working to dig up stats for this guy so he can publish another stupid article to show off his "knowledge" and "insider" info to further embarass and hurt the adult biz? Looks to me like he just threw something out there and everyone jumped and provided him with real stats. He'll probably take those stats and use them to attack those hosting companies and try to run them out of business. I hate that I'm posting here because it means I'm feeding a troll too. But I think it's best if everyone just ignores trolls and tries to restore some modicum of civility and perhaps some business to this forum. And yes, this thread has been civil. But I think that is only because dude is fishing for info and you guys are biting on his line.

He isn't hurting our business at all.. Of course we inside the box will see it that way, it's natural, even I did at first.

But in reality the Male Adults have no clue wtf this guy is talking about. They see... Credit cards are safe, we got spam, spam was caught, stopped, and corrected on 40% of the Adult Internet.

Stupid as it sounds, I have acually gotten two ICQ's with similar ideas, wondering if MinusOne acually worked for John or OC3, ect and this was nothing but a marketing idea gone wrong or if he was hired to be the fluffer for damage. Wouldn't be the first time Companies did this.

Guys before this get out of hand with the fake Drama that is going on here normally... let feed the troll a little.

Minusonebit never worked for us, We have Nothing to do with John (never met him)...

Also just like that article misspelled my name they messed up my statements and wrote something else.

I said 14% NOT 40% (and I added US based but I guess that wasn't necessary as well for them) also many of you guys don't even know what ASN's we use as we currently have 6, OC3 Networks is just the the holding company and Brand we sell threw. (be prepare for some major announcements this month as well)

Thanks, I will correct that. I was a few minutes a way from emailing it to you. This is the pre-release, I'm having a good number of people read over it, make suggestions, additions, ect before I fully release it.

Excellent points Brad,

Also, don't forget acquisitions. When we acquire a company, we keep the name servers as is. In order to get a full and complete count, not only would you have to know the facts that you stated (hosting companies hosted in our data center, private name servers, etc) but you would also have to query all the name servers that came over from acquisitions.

The last time I took the time to query all of our name servers, I counted over 200,000 domains. This number does not include colo or name servers that we don't manage so the number is not an accurate reflection of the number of actual sites we host. I'm sure it's true in your case also.

Bill

Yea i know it doesn't. Point of my post was just that by searching through the web, you have data that oc3 is far smaller then all those other companies, so the statement of 40% is ludacris. and yea, i know i know, minusguy gave that info, i'm just saying. Also, you can see by brad's post he also found similar data as I did.

I did not make the claim, do not credit me with it. I didn't report it, either. In every media interview I have given, I have said three things about OC3: they are highly respected, highly knowledgeable and because of the first two when they talk everyone listens.
