When I was a kid my buddy and I would walk this creek/river and fish for trout. We would stop and cook what we caught about half way there. We would just clean them and wrap them in tin foil with some seafood season salt and butter then throw them on the open flame. Tender, fresh and very yummy,

I actually did that for a long time before the family invested in a proper smoker. As long as you get yourself a good oldschool fridge without all the plastic inside, you're good to go. Grand dad makes amazing smoked trout and pickerel. I can mow through that stuff. I'm kind of a one trick pony and stick to doing different kinds of jerky myself. My old man has started getting into doing pepperoni and sausage this winter, so hopefully he gets things figured out well enough that I can pick some of that info up off him. What Id' really like to do is a build a solid smoke shack and figure out how to cure hams and bacon. mmmmmm, bacon....

All of the above recipe suggestions are great. I'll add one further just for variety -- it's called "Shore Lunch". It's a fish coating mix, I believe you can order it online but I buy it at one of the local supermarkets that carry it. The stuff is incredible on fish but can be used for pork, chicken, deer meat, elk, etc. When I use it it's mainly on fish filets though.
I highly recommend you give it a try.

I caught my fair share of Salmon this last season so I bought a smoker and smoked some Salmon...but I have never eaten smoked Trout and I do not intend to smoke any Trout...as I find that Trout is far more tastier than Salmon.

not cooking, smoking the meat. I love when "open-minded" citytards can't see passed the end of their own nose. converting a refrigerator to a smoker is nothing uncommon. people have been converting fridges to home smokers for decades. they suit the purpose very well. you can pay $400 for a fancy little piece of shit that smokes a pound of meat, or you can drop $50 on an old fridge and convert to smoker that'll do a whole side of beef.

All are salmon but some go into the ocean and get more of the features.
Lake trout usually dont get to the Ocean and stay small. I cant remember exactly what it is called but their is metamorphisis that happens when they hit salt water

If you are referring to Steelhead they do not turn into Salmon...they remain what they are and that is Steelhead Trout.

I believe all trout are salmon species, i cant remember exactly from the environmental sciences class. But they do get classified as salmon trout when they hit the salt water. Usually I can remember these useless facts..lol I just cant remember what it is exactly
