The core problem is other humans. Just one determined pigeon feeder can sustain thousands of pigeons. But educating these people is hard. It is just as difficult as telling people that copying is stealing. An uphill battle.

Hehe I'm not a big bird guy either Zyber. Not at all. I just hate killing I guess. But man yeah that is a whole nasty thing. It must sound rediculous from that perspective that I am monkeying around trying to help one of these nuisances.

As a kid I never noticed birds but sometimes they get kind of loud around here. As the one fella said they do kill insects tho. But they also crap on the car a lot and carry lice and nasty stuff. But I also dont really dislike them either. They are pretty to watch. But like anything, more than a few and there is then problems.

If my cat maims one I might lend it a hand (altho if me and Tom are in the Apple we will keep right on going ) but yeah who would feed em. Bird crap is nasty stuff if you get too many of them in an area for sure.

I have had a bird shit on my head directly . I think I even got it worse one time like on the face or eye or such but it is vague, I blocked it out. A cat has never caused me, a human, a bit of problem. So yeah.

Well maybe a stray or feral meowing outside your house.. Solution: Get some pure vinegar (our friend vinegar again) and give the stray a graze with a squirter bottle. Simple as that cat gone. If he comes back be a little more accurate. No harm to anyone. Birds tho. No getting rid of them in major cities.

Plus I have also seen Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.

Hitch new. Birds are creepy characters in some ways.

I also used to be against killing of anything with a pulse. When I shot the first pigeon, I felt a sudden joy. Maybe it was due to getting even, or maybe it was the adrenaline from the fact that I just played God, and decided to terminate the enemy. It is a bit strange that one can get pleasure from killing. But sure it felt good, and it was also addictive. I lived in a European capital city, so I am lucky that my neighbours didn't get scared by seeing this armed lunatic crawl around on the roof like some mad sniper pursuing his new hobby. No one called the cops on me

Now, I don't care too much about pigeons anymore because they are no longer part of my life. But of course I still remember the conclusions I had to make back then.

I like both dogs (big) and cats. Each in their own way. Dogs for integrating so well into human families, and cats for being the mysterious two-faced cute predators.

ack, pigeons are useless crap creatures ... they eat shit and the only noise they make is that "guru guru" ... pigeons dont catch mosquitos or such ... KILL THEM ON SPOT! all they do is SHIT on your house and car - nothing else or, if you have a hawk or falcon - use them as bait; best you can do :D

One thing is for sure. Noise is a big problem and prob the one way animals or birds can get on our nerves. Which is why I gave the tip to get rid of howling cats.

If I was listening to screaming pigeons it would take me about 1.2 seconds to be joining you with a 20 gauge and I would also be smiling. hehe

Love dogs except for one thing.. noise.. barking.. ooooh that is a major pet peeve of mine but lets make that another thread.

People sometimes complain if a dog or cat shits in a yard. But fact is birds drop way more shit overall.

A few years ago a neighbor complained my cat shit in his yard or garden. Looking things up on the net a guy made a good point. For people who complain a dog or cat shit in your yard.. there is shit all over.. insect shit and bird shit way more than a cat or dog shit once or twice. But thats another thread.

Dogs and cats shitting in others peoples yards and dogs barking.. both deserve seperate threads.
