I assembled a list of domains I found that were redirecting visitors to dialer traps and all. I'm sure you remember the discussion on this board with the two genious Russians... Anyway, those two and their group have been submitting to me a lot lately. And they've been getting approval screens. Their submissions were assembled though, non of 'em ever made it to my site, but I do have the list. These are ONLY the domains of this Russian group. I have more lists than this one, but those are all domains of people that redirected, added banners, consoles, things like that... This is the list of domains owned by that group of Russians. I figured the only way to make these children stop what they're doing is by making it not worth their time. So getting their domains blacklisted will render 142 domain names to void... the list is still growing. I might be doing an update when I found more domains. If these people are smart they'll stop submitting though ;-)

But please let me ask you this question. You don't condone to cheaters but have no problems with hotlinkers ? Honestly, it appears to be a pretty weird double-standard.

MichaelH, how surprisingly, another someone who posts here to proof what double standards I have. Ok, one more time: I don't have double standards. I don't hotlink people for the fun of it. I used the method in the past to let cheaters know they're not running my show.

I'm talking about people that blindly redirect people to 8 USD/min dialers or child pornography. And yes, I will condone everybody that at least shows some effort in stopping that kind of business. I write 'em first with a warning. Usually that doesn't do a thing, the cheating continues. Then I write their hosts and warn them I will initiate action if they continue to willingly bend MY rules I set for MY OWN page. If after that they STILL don't listen I have no alternatives left then to make it very unattractive to cheat on me. Simple as that.

There are no laws to protect on-line businesses. There are no laws to fight people who redirect to incest sites and pictures of naked children. There are no laws to protect people from 8 USD/min dialers that IMMEDIATELY start dialing once you entered a page with their code on there. I'm not talking about confirmations and clear rates, I'm talking about software that dials internationally without any kind of confirmation or warning. Now if you're protecting people like that saying it's wrong to do something about them I guess you must be one of 'em yourself.

Michael, read a little closer (clicked the link to that other thread) and I see you're talking about condoning another kind of hotlinker. I'll leave the previous post as it is though it's not an approriate answer to your post...

But anyway, I don't support hotlinkers. I do act IMMEDIATELY if a hotlinker is reported when the report is coming from the party that is hotlinked. I have no way in the world to know what kind of deals parties have going... I hotlink many paysites myself. All banners on my site are hosted by the advertising party. They know that, and we have an agreement on there. There's no way I can verify a report from someone else. I do check in to it when I get it reported and I do write the webmaster in question. Nothing to do with double standards Michael...

It seems you were misunderstanding my post ; maybe i wasn't clear enough

Someone else in the other thread (which i pointed to in my post above) gave all details about one of the hotlinking issue(s). It's not about you hotlinking others, it's about others commercially ripping off free ISP's accounts for hosting their movies, while getting listed by you or other sites. Nothing else.

The issue is about webmasters commercially ripping off free isps webspace and thus saving huge money (by hosting huge movies on free isps webspace) on bandwidth expenses, while others still pay for their bandwidth and get listed, eventually even lower than those with the huge movies.

Some other sites go even further than that, but that's not the issue here (e.g. real hotlinking bots). Though, a growing but silent number of webmasters is very concerned about the topic hotlinking generally.

I fully support your point of vue concerning other cheating methods like redirecting galleries to cp sites or anywhere else etc, or your fight against the use of super-expensive dialers as billing methods.

My remark about double-standards (and yes, it's been proven in the other thread) was related to the fact that you do you best against "cheaters" but eventually not against hotlinkers (thus people getting listed with galleries hotlinking content from free isps or any other hosts) on your site, but i might have been wrong (though, the other guy mentioned that you were emailed but without reaction). That's really all.

Everyone can run his site as he wants, it was just only weird to see action taken against cheaters, but eventually not against hotlinkers. (after all, free isps cap their bandwidth at some level, which leads to 404s, and thus redirected traffic too and thus filling the cheating factor? - Why should those webmasters be treated any different than webmasters deleting their content or 404 on purpose?)

Anyways, there was no harm meant in my post (other than to those hotlinkers of course).

What was proven in the other thread?! Nothing was proven there Michael, things were assumed there. I don't allow hotlinkers on my site. End of story. You made a remark on that other thread that 'cheap scripts don't allow content on a different domain'... That's most likely why they're cheap. I have enough people that run more than one website with more than one domain that run their content off of one central server. Don't ask me the reason, I don't know, but my script didn't allow content on a different domain 'till I got too many questions about it.

The procedure is simply: if you're hotlinked write me. And I'll trace down ALL information on the hotlinker and I'll make sure the guy will not be posted on my site again. Have your content stolen by someone: write me. Again, I'll trace down all info and blacklist the offender. But the report HAS to come from the party that's hotlinked or stolen from, 'cause there's no way in the world for me to know if there isn't any kind of deal going.

I know for a fact that there were some free hosts out there that didn't care the least for hotlinking. For about a year ago the term 'stockholdersvalue' could make a lot of money. Show that you use bandwidth and stockholders will assume you're making a lot of money. There we go again with "assume"...

You're "assuming" I have double standards based on what is "assumed" in another thread. Get your facts straight before you base an opinion on 'em. I have a very clear, very easy standard. Nothing complicated about it. I too have to assume things sometimes, there's just no way around it. But I don't make public posts about people based on assumptions... Simply 'cause I assume that's not the smartest thing to do...

When the one guy posted the CapsOn thread (he must have had some personal problems with that gallerymaker maybe) the other day, everyone could see it was a fact, i saw it with my own eyes, i didn't just "assume" it...

Maybe he's not listed anymore now (it's quite some time since the other guy's thread was started), but he was listed at that time. So at that time, it was a proof, not just an "assumption". If you don't allow hotlinkers, ok, fine That's all i asked about.

Regarding http://gallery.soakedmovies.com/12/21/index.htm. What's the problem with that gallery? Do you know if that guy doesn't have a deal with that host? I don't? I certainly NEVER EVER got ANY complaint from them. There were some hosts in the past that complaints, they're all blacklisted at their own request. But this host never wrote me about this problem.

I don't know the reason's they are not complaining, fact is you're assuming the host has got a problem with it. They should simply drop me an e-mail and I'll take care of any problem they might have with this. Right now you're assuming they have a problem with it, I don't know anything though. So there were no facts in that other thread as well. No 'proof' for any double standard I might have.

But there are a lot of people out there that WANT to read things a certain way, want to interpret things in such a matter that it would show how good they were and how bad I am and what double standards I would have. I know it's fun to expose something, but I searched my mailbox for "soakedmovies.com" and NO message came up. Everything before June 2002 is archived, I didn't search there, but I -assume- the guy 'wrote' me after that. So gone the 'proof' about reports and gone the 'proof' about any reports.

The good thing about a simple standard is that I don't have to think long how I would have reacted. So if the guy didn't get a reaction from me at all I know something else must have been wrong. Maybe I didn't get the e-mail. Maybe the guy didn't e-mail me at all, after all, he posted that message on a public board for me to find out about it today... Not much of a report, is it?

If someone reports this, like you're doing now on this public board, I check in to the matter, see if there are complaints from the host in question, and if there are no problems and if I'm not in further contact with the host then that's the end of the story. I can't know what deals soakedmovies has with his host. If I find out in any way that -for sure- he's illegally hotlinking then rest assured, he'll be blacklisted. 'till then I can't have a problem with this.

Whew...none of my domains are on there...I have had a few blacklisted in the past because they went to a free host 404 or my 404 during a server move or something silly...but every gallery I have ever made on my own domains is still online. No reason to delete them unless I eventually run out of space...then I guess it would be safe to delete three year old galleries.l
