Pros - What's the best way to get traffic to my website?
I'm not new to camming (16 years doing the deed) but I've recently decided to start pushing my own club, where I have a members-only password-protected area filled with videos.
Recent changes to search engines (Google, in particular) are making it harder for adult sites to gain exposure. I have a Twitter account, a Facebook account, a few others, as well, and use those carefully to promote the club but traffic seems to be dry at times. Anyone have any tips for this newbie? I'm looking for free platforms to advertise my services but not places that are going to install funky little programs onto my computer. I'm looking for legit, clean sites with traffic. The 'in' thing used to be TGPs and banner exchanges but I'm not willing to go that route. I don't trust buying it, either, so perhaps I'm in an impossible situation right now, but I'm trying to squeeze some free advertising to kick start my little club. I'm not looking for someone to tell me what to offer in the club, or tell me what I'm doing wrong, etc. I'm well aware of the games played in this industry. I'm looking for traffic. Plain and simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess I still have 24 posts or so until I can post a banner or link. Thanks for any help. Someone mentioned posting my signature to forums, as one way to gain traffic but it seems the only people posting here are industry professionals and not necessarily my target audience. |

if you want to post your link to get some targeted advice you can do so as mysite.com or www(dot)mysite(dot)com

I checked out your site through your 'view my homepage' link...I started writing a few comments but then I reread your OP and realized that you want this thread to be specific to acquiring traffic, so I'll bow out to those with expertise in marketing a product similar to yours.
Good luck with your new venture

I'm probably the last person here that should be giving advice, considering I only recently broke the 200 U/V a day mark, but you may want to consider starting accounts on xvideos, pornhub, and other similar sites and start posting sample videos with your url in the corner. Upload a handful of "clip" videos to get people curious, and a handful of "full" videos to seal the deal.
Again, I'm a nobody, so feel free to tell me to fuck off, but if camming is your thing then getting your videos on the major video sites would probably be a good start.

Backlinks... Lots of Backlinks. They may not send you direct traffic, but they will increase your overall page rank.

I have an account on xvideos but for me, the traffic doesn't convert. I get a few friend requests there every day, which I keep on top of. Also have an account on YouPorn (similar to Pornhub, same owner) but my videos never got approved. I discovered that there was no way for me to delete my own videos from that site either. I had to 'request' to have my own videos removed. I found that absolutely ridiculous, so I decided to just ask the site to remove them entirely. They could be legit as legit gets but I don't like the fact that I can't remove my own videos. I've got videos up on other similar sites with teaser videos and indeed, the url to my site posted there. I even have some on non-adult sites that contain no nudity whatsoever. With the growing popularity of these sites, it seems the less friends you make, as opposed to just a few years ago. Places like Youtube and Metacafe have grown quite a bit and don't seem to have the same appeal they once did. I'm willign to move on, however, but the trouble is .... where to advertise. Thanks for your suggestions, TittyTweaker, it's much appreciated. |

I wasn't aware that you were unable to delete your own videos on those sites, that definitely seems a bit off. Have you considered starting your own subreddit and posting preview content there? I bet you could generate interest there by posting preview content and interacting with the subscribers.

I started writing about how you could tighten up your tour to make it more user-friendly, that's all. Then I realized that your OP was explicitly traffic-related so I deleted it and put the suggestion on posting your site link instead. I'm not looking for drama
sounds like a plan, have a great day

Here's a list of the nsfw sections that showed up in the search: http://www.reddit.com/subreddits/search?q=nsfw For the big NSFW sections, they tend to frown on anything that isn't uploaded to imgur, at least I haven't had luck posting direct links to images on my site. That's why creating your own subreddit is a good idea, that way you are in charge. Again, I'm the last person who should be giving advice, but people seem to have a lot of luck with reddit.

Ad wise, try tumblr (connected to twitter), you can build a pretty massive follower base if you put original content (of course you leave the goodies for the premium members) out and interact with people. I've tried it and made 33 followers in 2 days and I am not putting my own content out like you would. The second major problem is that (as far as I can see) there is no affiliate program on your site. I know it isn't something simple to set up, especially if you are not familar with coding, but this is what keeps this biz going. If you check my sig, you see our partner program, but if you can't give back something to the webmaster why would he promote you for free? You should utilize (not just ours) partner programs because a simple plugrush plug on your video can bring 100s of unique visitors and they are one click away from your site and I am only talking about a new site ( numbers ), not the big boys. P.S.: I am not an expert (yet ), but I see businesses can be succesfull this way.

Hello Amanda,
I suggest that you give it an attempt to get listed on FreeOnes. If you are able to get yourself listed, contact them and inquire, if you have such contents, if you could send them contents that they could use for promotional purposes. Even if you do not have an affiliate program, ask them if adding a text link or a banner linking back to them would do. Kind Regards, Angelicion

Thanks for the advice, guys. The good, the bad & the ugly. I'll take it exactly as it is. I'm not looking for a freebie handout of information. Not at all. What I am looking for is some tips to point me in the right direction with kick-starting a decent little traffic flow to my site. One day, sure, I hope to make it bigger. I hope to bring other girls on board and I know I can do that. Then, I'll think about putting real money into it. A venture has to start somewhere, so please keep in mind that this is just a venture. I'm not looking to make big waves in a small sea. Not this soon.
The content is there and if my site looks amateur - great! I am an amateur. I created the entire site myself. I never claimed to be a webmaster but it could be a heck of a lot worse than that. Besides, I'd feel completely silly taking advice about being professional from someone who calls their own website 'pervypig.com'. I will have to keep in mind, this is a great place to round up some website critics. Seriously, thanks to everyone for your help (especially those with helpful advice). ;) |

Regarding the name... It could have been another bigtitgirlstube or fuckxxxxhub , but you should grab every opportunity to stand out from the crowd and you should start with the name of your biz, so I did. Today is the 25th day of pervypig and it cracked 1000UV/day multiple times (even 2000 once) (total number 17.000+ with an avarage of 6+ page/visit) without one single backlink. Already converted multiple times. I think I gave you actual advices which would improve your conversion and traffic so you should at least gave an honest advice in exchange instead of this. I know I have to learn a lot and grab every chunk of information which could help my site, do you?

Sorry guys, I thought my post was clear but somehow, it's come across sounding like I'm asking for criticism when that's not what I'm asking for at all. Just looking for some links, places to advertise. I was hoping to gain some links, perhaps some ideas, nothing too heavy. No breakdown of what I'm doing wrong or where my site could use improvement, what to do/what not to do. It's simple - just looking for places to push my site, to gain traffic.
Thanks to anyone who can help with the above-mentioned. |

I just sort of skimmed through this, but it sounds to me like you're looking for an easy way and the truth is that there really isn't one unless you want to employ black hat tactics, which probably wouldn't be smart. When it comes to promoting, you can't be picky and you have to be relentless to a degree. Some like it, some don't, but in this day it is integral. Put a watermark on your vids and submit them to EVERY. TUBE. POSSIBLE. Even if the site doesn't allow for a back link, you still getting you product visibility. If you have photos, submit them to reddit, imagefap, tumblr, and any other sites you can find. Be careful of you anchor text, because over optimizing it can be counter productive to your SEO cause.
And for backlinks, sadly, you are more than likely going to have to buy at least some of them. Assuming your site gets little traffic, most webmasters aren't going to merely be willing to trade their high value links to you, and backlinks are a vital part of SEO. It sucks, but that's just the way things are.

Hmmm, seems like a few people in this thread were giving you good advice and you repay them with arrogance and insults. I would suggest that you learn how to take constructive criticism if you wish to be successful in anything.
Now I sort of regret ever responding to this post. Anyways, good luck.

Free often leads to Failure.
Amanda...obtaining free traffic to your site is one narrow expect of your desired result. Everyone involved with making money online wants "traffic", more specifically...converting/buying quality traffic. This way of looking at your online business is self destructive. Instead of traffic, I want you to think...Advertise, Monetize, Split Test, Reinvest, and Scale.
Amanda start off by investing a portion of whatever income you have into buying traffic. 1) Advertising - Adult traffic is extremely cheap. Quality traffic per 1 thousand goes on average for about $3 dollars. You spend $3 per 1 thousand visitors. The quality of the traffic isn't as relevant as you might think. 2) Monetize - Their are only 3 types of visitors to every website. A) Those who come-look around and then leave. B) Those whose come-look around and click on a few pages and links. C) Those whose come, look around, click, and purchase. Although C) is the optimal elusive buyer everyone wants... {{{NEWS Bulletin}}} You can optimize your site for all 3 types of visitors and Get PAID. "Are you Smiling Yet"? (CPM) Utilize CPM ads on your site in order to get paid per 1 thousand visitors. Cpm stands for cost per impression. It means a sponsor will pay you a certain amount of money per 1 thousand visitors. If you're spending roughly $3 for CPM of 1 thousand visitors and a sponsor is paying you $2 per 1 thousand... you have dramatically increased your traffic and decreased your advertising costs. Don't worry I'm going to show how to completely get rid of all your advertising costs completely and role in pure profit. Next you'll need... CPC ads from sponsors. This is for your B) type visitor who like to click on links, pages, and ads, but doesn't purchase. Obviously CPC ads allows you to monetize for B) type visitors. Think Contextual popups, Adult Adsense, pop unders, and traffic trading. Now that you're buying some traffic and making money off all your visitors. Go ahead and start reaching out for traffic trades. With traffic trades and buying traffic you can now start to double up on traffic, because purchased traffic will come to your site, click on some of your traffic partner,s links, and now your traffic partner will send you a visitor back. Can you say 2 for 1 deal. An entire facet of the adult industry is built on traffic trading. Think of your site as having links on it to other models who do what you do. If a customer doesn't like you for some reason he may enjoy the proverbial/other women with whom is your traffic trading partner/affiliate. Did you just see you Conversion Ratio Skyrocket? Although it's hard to discern..this business is non competitive. C) type visitors are perfect customers. They allow us to profit with whatever ideal monetization our websites have in place...usually memberships or paysites. Split Testing - In a nutshell you want to track your visitors with metrics and analytics like Google Analytics Stat Counter and many others. Spit testing and tracking gives you ideal info like...demographics, age, education, where visitors are browsing from, country, gender, favorite color, how many cavities they have, what they ate for lunch 2 days ago and so on. By using this information and constantly split testing/ switching up design, layout, colors, themes, and content...you'll be able to serve your customers precisely what they're looking for, when they're looking for it, as though you we're reading their minds. The metrics and testing will tell you exactly who your visitors are, what they want, and how the like it. "No pun intended". LOL "No Guess Work Involved". With an analytics platform like clicktale, you'll even be able to see your customer's mouse movement on your website. Can you say, "Cha Ching"? Scale - Now that you know your traffic better than their Mothers do. Study your beautiful and robust analytics data and start scaling up your advertising and enjoying life more. In closing...Buy Traffic, because you know longer care what your traffic does or doesn't do, you know the pitfalls and short comings of free traffic and know you know how to profit off every single visitor irregardless. This is known as your Return on Invest based on Earning Per Customer. When done correctly...every customer will be worth a certain amount of money. Forget free traffic... Study the data and maximize you ROI. |

Amanda. We are old friends. We met many years ago. Want my advice? Change your focus. Learn to program PHP. Learn to Paint. You'll never be successful with a site like yours. Sure, you may make money, but it won't make you happy. Do something that you are proud of.

Thanks, guys. I'm mainly sticking with social media platforms to promote this. Will definitely check out Freeones but not before I do some research on them first. Always a good idea to know who you're dealing with.
Thanks again! |

I am going to cherry-pick what I think is good advice and add to it:
Make sure that your site is in your signature or profile anywhere and everywhere that you post - from Twitter to Facebook to GFY. It doesn't matter if the users are your target market or not, the search engines see those links and use them to gauge your popularity which can help you rise in the rankings. I've said it before, but there is so much noise out there in the adult market that it is hard to penetrate and reach an audience, let alone an audience willing to actually pay for content. Get yourself out there...people probably aren't going to pay for your content if they've never seen or heard of you. Upload teaser videos and images to every site you can find, but remember two things: what you upload should be worth watching, but not necessarily worth buying (in other words, don't give away your premium content), and make sure to watermark everything with the name and URL of your site clearly visible so people know where to find you. Hell, I would even add your Twitter and Facebook links to them. You don't have to worry about having control over what you upload if you aren't giving away the really good stuff. I have been fascinated with the intersection of social media and the adult market. There is a massive opportunity there to connect with customers on an entirely different level than was previously possible, but no one seems to have figured out how exactly to do it in the adult world. It requires a careful strategy since a lot of people may not want to mix up their personal and professional lives with their less socially acceptable "interests" - i.e. when Grandma visits my Facebook page is she going to see all of the porn stars I am friends with? If you want to PM me or reply here, I'd be happy to see if I can help you out on a more targeted approach - I just need more info first. Also, if you want to send me some links to your site, I'd be happy to add it to our index. Good luck!
