Choosing server for WP Blog

The blog is pretty lightweight in graphics, uses caches and minimum plugins so shouldn't be a huge demand on a servers resources. I'm trying to determine which hosting type to go with first that takes the following into account.

1- Running 1 WP site only that is as described above.

2- No sysadmin experience, limited knowledge of linux. With a tool like phpMyAdmin and a LAMP stack already set up I'd be good to go, though, no need for CPanel, etc.

3- Starting out not anticipating much traffic but within 3 months reaching upwards of 5k daily visitors and beyond. When necessary I'd move to a dedicated box, but just don't feel comfortable laying out that much cash while in the growth/build phase.

I want to go with MOJO HOST but i know its throwing cash away for at least a few months before there is much traffic to the site (they only have dedicated boxes). ON the flip side, I'm not sure how much of a headache it would be to move servers when it becomes necessary plus with set-up fees maybe its better to bite the bullet and gamble a few hundred/thousand dollars and just start with a dedicated at mojo.

Regardless of which route to go, I'm having trouble figuring out my RAM requirements for when the site is small/growing. Once I start reaching over 5k hits I'm assuming I need to be at 2GB and expanding it upwards as necessary. Serving cached pages significantly reduces the ram requirements, though (i would imagine).

Any hosting gurus with insight? Would 256mb -512mb handle upwards of 2k hits a day with the blog described above and optimized to be as light as possible? With no CPanel running, just phpMyAdmin or something like that so I can set up the WP install manually?

Any help appreciated.

I use them for a few months now and my blog runs smoothly as ever, I recommend it

You could host that EASILY on a VPS. I'm not even trying to sell you here, I'm just saying.
Anyhow, the link in my sig does provide VPS for cheap with fantastic support, but you could use any major hosting provider and get a VPS to run what you're asking for.
Hit me up on ICQ if you want to talk over some other good options.

For WP choose the basic shared account on any host. All have Cpanel and fantastico.
Try it and if you think that is not enough for your needs just upgrade it. Step by step.

Exactly. And once again, not to try and gain a ref here, but DreamHost allows you to change from shared to their VPS at the click of a button. You also just use the slider tool to get the exact amount of ram/cpu power you need.

Hello JerryF,

Caro.Net can certainly assist you with that. We have Dell Dedicated servers starting as low as $80/mo and then when the time is right we can deliver a seamless migration to a larger server whenever you need to make the transitions.

I decided to go with Dedico in the end and things are looking good, testing the site still but its starting to come together: http://porn-recon.com. Need to work out a few bugs and she'll be ready I think.

you don't need a server for that...
you could use CertifiedHosting or some VPS for that.

but if you want it take the one with cPanel or DA

if you need any help with all that (server setup and tunning, site migrations, optimizations) hit me up
