Cop with hand on gun tells you to call your dog, you threaten the cop = stupid.

Had you simply called the dog instead of threatening the cop you and he could have had a pleasant exchange after he saw tere was no threat.

he cop was there going into an unknown 911 situation in order to protect your family and yourself from whatever threat prompted the 911 call.

I hate cops with a passion, but put yourself in his shoes. He's responding to a 911 call, doesn't know if you own the house or if you just hacked up the family inside, and your dog rushes him.

Can't say he would be justified in shooting the dog, but I can see how he may pull the trigger if he thought he was at risk. I'd rather be a cop with a dead dog on my hands instead of a cop with a chunk of my leg missing.

So I have to ask, why is the cop walking up to your house? Where did he park? Why didn't he just drive right up to your house. Then you and your dogs would have seen him coming and nobody would have been startled.

It doesn't make sense that he parks a ways away and then hikes up to your house. Cops are trained to use their cars as cover so they don't volunteer to leave them behind if it can be avoided.

Anyway, I live on a hill there is stairs that come up the hill and a washed up dirt road out back accessible with 4wd. You HAVE to park aways away and HIKE up to my house. We carry our groceries up and our garbage down. Our car was parked at the bottom until I blew the motor last week and sold it off the side of the road for scrap, but that is another interesting story indeed. It involves a jeep, a car dolly, a junkyard, and a stable of hoes. You wouldn't believe that story either.

We don't know that a 911 call was actually placed or the police officer could of had the wrong address. The OP says no one made the call, so we can't assume otherwise. Giving the benefit of the doubt to the police officer is wrong, and it's exactly what you're doing.

The officer is merely acting on the information he's been given and its his duty to fully investigate the matter while proceeding with caution. All of this, "stand up for yourself", "be a man" and "fuck the police" bravado is what gets people killed and put in prison.

Contrary to popular belief the police don't just drive around looking for ways to fuck with people because they have nothing better to do. If the dispatch told this cop that there was a hang up 911 call at this house he only has that information to go on so he is investigating it. When he walks up to the house he assumes he is doing so in good faith for his investigation.

You could argue that he could have handled the dog situation better, but we weren't there so we don't know exactly how it went down. He has no idea if the dogs are going to attack him and when he calls out for the owner to control the dogs and they don't it gives him an immediate reason to suspect something is going on.

Nobody is giving up their rights or not being a man here. I bet if there were a story about a hang up 911 call and the police didn't investigate it and some woman was raped and killed because they didn't investigate it you would be ripping the police for not doing their job.

Obviously we have different views of what the assumption here should be. Mine is, if the OP says no call was made, then no call was made and the officer had no right to step foot on that man's property or ask him to control his dogs. It surely would not be the first time a police officer, swat team, or law enforcement raid happened upon the wrong house.

I never stated he should "be a man" and I never said "fuck the police." I agreed with a quote and statements suggesting people should not be trampled over by law enforcement, strictly because they are law enforcement.

I also never became so petty as to insult someone because I disagreed with their opinion.

Anyway, I live on a hill there is stairs that come up the hill and a washed up dirt road out back accessible with 4wd. You HAVE to park aways away and HIKE up to my house. We carry our groceries up and our garbage down. Our car was parked at the bottom until I blew the motor last week and sold it off the side of the road for scrap, but that is another interesting story indeed. It involves a jeep, a car dolly, a junkyard, and a stable of hoes. You wouldn't believe that story either.
