Also I have a problem with these people that use the bible as an excuse to judge people and cherry pick what suits them. Leviticus were they all love to quote also says eating shell fish and pork are also abominations. The old testament, Exodus talks about it being ok to sell your daughter into slavery.
In reality Christians should be the followers of the teachings of Christ but that doesnt work when he said there is only one commandment love one another as I loved you. Cant do much judging on that one.

The support for the family is awesome, found out they have beards because it says something about it in the bible. Basically, they live their complete life by the bible.

A&E will keep them going, they are the most popular show in reality right now, they are huge. The thing that most are drawn to them is because of their belief's.

I'm sorry that I can't fault people for having a different belief, but love that they are not afraid to speak their belief.

but the simple fact is the gq article was printed, it included the quote, a&e had to spin it, why not spin it to gain attention. fact is the show is entirely scripted, exposure sells ads, by scripting the controversy by adding to it, they increased attention, you don't need to look past this thread to see that.

Never mind how they may have looked. You just need to watch the show to see it is fake. I have seen two episodes and both were so fake it was unreal. In one episode a freezer full of meat breaks and they have to clean it out then find a place to dump the meat. They spend half the episode driving around trying to figure out what to do with the rotten meat. The acting is so bad it is obvious. That same episode one of the guy's kids are getting their wisdom teeth pulled. They did a whole thing where the kids act goofy after being on the gas. Of course this was right after some viral videos on Youtube where people filmed their kids being goofy after the dentist. Again, it was so fake it was painful.

I can't see how anyone could watch the show and not think they are being manipulated and used.

But that is not the point ....This is an issue between an employer ( A&E) and an employee ( Phil ) ... end of story ...

As a very close example, I am under contract with a major federal " crown " corporation ... I signed a contract with many clauses ...

Now, I am allowed to express publically ( and published ) an opinion that would go against Federalism in Canada ( as I am under contract with a federal company) ?

this is being made into an issue that it isn't. the country, president, justice system didn't do anything to phil. a private corporation did. a private entity that is free to do as it pleases with its shows and stars. it has nothing to do with freedom of speech. a&e is not a democracy. its a cable tv network.

I guess I am pretty cynical when it comes to things like this. I think A&E and the Duck Dynasty people are using this all as a way to get more publicity. When the article came out and started getting negative attention I think executives at A&E sat down with the Phil and the family and they decided they would "suspend" him and milk this for a few weeks then they would bring him back. It allows them to further whip their supporters into a frenzy and get more publicity for the show.

I think the Duck Dynasty family is far more savvy and media wise than they let on. They understand that by pretending to be rednecks they are cashing in. They are going to stick with that.

I do believe that they are all very religious, but I think most of the show is just an act and I think this entire suspension is just a publicity stunt.
