Also take this into account. If you skim 60% to galleries. 20 x .6 = 12 go to galleries and only 8 go to trades. To get 8 people to go to trades you had to give 20 out clicks. Which will cause you trouble later.

If any newbies are thinking of giving this a try, I'd recommend High Country Hosting. When I read through this tutorial about 2 months ago, I signed up for a basic plan under $10 and they installed the Comus and TTT scripts for me (free/skim versions). I was up and running in about 24 hours.

After a few weeks, I decided that a TGP wasn't the route I wanted to go, and I've been doing free sites instead. But this tutorial was very helpful. Big thanks to the author and all the contributors. I know I'm going to come back to this and give it another try in the future.

Anyways, if anyone is looking for cheap hosting and can't handle installing scripts, check these guys out. I'm sure if you drop them an e-mail and mention you're from the GFY boards, they'll give you a good price.

Are you still offering all of this. I didn't see specific mention of it. Is this offered with both your virtual and your dedicated plans?

Gunda,

You may be sick of praise by now, though I never would be. LOL I've been on a lot of boards, even before their was an internet and I've never been interested enough to read though 8 pages of post. Took me a while but I did.

While going through the thread I noticed about half the sites that people setup after this thread started were still up. Many of the sites that had links here are gone. Not too bad really, especailly since every failure is in some way your fault. (I'm kidding just commenting on some your frustrated post.)

One thing question has been formost on my mind, you said you've been at this for 2 years. I've learned that networking is key to making any money on the net. Why are other sites going to want to trade with me? It appears to be about quality traders. I just wonder how I'm going to make that happen starting out?

I wonder if those two years have a lot to do with your sucess. Clearly you understand the concept of giving in order to establish relationships. Giving without expecting anything in return like you did here.

Although other opinions that were posted here helped me a great deal, anyone slamming you for posting links with your referral code is offbase and calls their credibility into question, at least in my mind. That was wrong.

Thanks,

Sickthing

Simple answer to that is People want to grow. Well if you're starting out and have zero traffic to trade out I would suggest buying traffic to your site.

The Concept:
Imagine if your site is you're heart. Buying traffic is like buying a Blood transfusion. Now that blood isn't going to be as good as the stuff already in the body. So imagine that the various body parts are your traders. They already have blood. You're going to want to circulate the not so good quality transfusion blood into multiple body parts. Now that you have the various body parts creating the chain by giving blood and dilluting the bad quality of the transfusion the heart can now sustain istelf. Then you work on chaining more body parts to the heart and growing the supply of blood.

Blood transfussion ehh? LOL, Yea I'm going to buy traffic due to what you've said here and from the people you recommended. As I understand it, I want to give most of that away? Hmmm maybe I don't understand that part, how am I going to give it away when I have no traders. LOL

There's a lot here to learn and remember. I'm going to contact that site offering the programs already installed right now and see if I can get in that way.

Thanks again!

Sorry I do not have the time to go through the whole
thread and maybe this is already answered and I am completely missing the point but I have a question though.

Is it "wise" to cut the skimming to say 90% at a given
stage assume the tgp reaches 100k uniques daily in order to try to get more people bookmarking your site?

(D. Comus Thumbs Template)
To get the full Productivity template grab it on the Comus Thumbs Forum

This is similar to what I personally use:
The above is confusing me. And I hate to be a complete dummy but....

Two templates? So I'm planning on buying a cheap template from one of the sites you've listed cause my web building is just not up to par. How the heck does Comus "know" how to work with my template? I'm very confused by this idea of two templates. I hope where I'm confused is clear. I'm having trouble putting it into words.

Thanks again ZZ for all your help!

If you're going to buy a TGP template, you might want to check out these guys:

http://tgpfactory.com/index.php

They offer to integrate Comus & TTT into the TGP template.

I personally haven't tried them, but I've seen them recommended quite a few times.

If you have a 100K site. You're probably doing ~4100 uniques per hour. If you werer to suddenly cut your skim to 90% you would see a huge decline after the hour you change the skim. Eventually after a few hours your site will decline even more because your trades don't get enough back they won't send very much or will just kill the trade.

You probably won't have time to build up bookmarkers since ~4100 times how many hours your trades will keep sending is your time span.

It would be better if you just went gradual such as 2-5% every few days. That way you can make bookmarkers while keeping your site stable.

Yeah you need to integrate the comus code into your html template. BTW dynamix is the same guy that runs tgpfactory. If you look at his portfolio my sites at the bottom.

Code:
<html>
<head>
<!--
{{prodbooster}}
{{setquery-new-" periodsshown>-1 order by periodsshown,if(used,-rating,-99999999),refreshdelay DESC,rand() "}}
{{setquery-stage1-" periodsshown>0 order by clickperiods "}}
{{setquery-age1-" periodsshown>0 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}
{{setquery-age2-" periodsshown>1 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}
{{setquery-age3-" periodsshown>2 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}
{{setquery-best1-" periodsshown>3 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}
{{setquery-best2-" periodsshown>4 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}
{{setquery-best3-" periodsshown>5 order by periodsshown,(clicks/clickperiods) desc "}}

Doesn't look too bad to me. But you can do sth. about your thumbs. They don't have to be 8000bytes large, when they're only 88*88. 4k should offer the same result but your page loads a bit faster...

And put more thumbs into each table. 7 rows with each 7 pics should work better.

Hi all, (my first post)

I started reading this thread a few days ago, as I was browsing for a TGP setup/hint/tricks guide, and I quickly found zzgundamnzz's input to be very helpful, factual and inspirational. Just wanted to say thanks, and wish you a good fortune.

I'm building my site now, a comus/ttt-c combo, and have just feed 15k (choker hits) , 5k a day for three days, to do a test run. I found that it's difficult to find good trades, out of ten, only three are returing hits, guess I need to look around for quality trades before I push more hits. Anyway, thanks again, and have a nice day!

You might wanna distribute your bought traffic to last longer so you can get the hang of trading.

I really wouldn't know how to get your site up unless I saw your comus template.

Could you take a screen cap of your TM3 stats too.

Put <!--#include virtual="top.shtml" --> whereever you want the toplist to appear (don't know if it's called top.shtml by default, but AWG has the filename in it's toplist-manager)

No, this is cool. Comus handles all the stuff, as long as you put the correct values in its setting-area.

Quote:

Comus -> Categories. You can set a value for each category here. Or put a #xxx# with the skim-ratio in front of a thumb-macro if you don't want to handle it by categories: {{#50#all-thumb-9-query-best}} for examlpe.

I think you've covered everything to get setup in this current one and nothing really changed.

You should explain the art of trading more in your next tutorial.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I couldn't find any mention of it. Actually, I have 2 quick questions:

1) Does Comus run well on Cobalt servers?
2) I plan on using affiliate codes that link to galleries hosted on the content providers' servers. Will this eliminate the need for any scripts?

Thanks for your help. Great thread, and very generous of you all to share so much useful info.

1. I really have no idea. You should ask the maker of comus.

2. What do you mean?

FPC traffic was ok back when I used it last year. Not sure about the quality now.

Take whatever trades you can get that can send you 500 uniques a day.
