Handel wins preserving the Republicans? 24-seat majority in the House

Republican Karen Handel has won Georgia?s special House election, holding a longtime GOP district in the Atlanta suburbs after a record-setting $50 million campaign.

Handel had 52 percent of the vote to Democrat Jon Ossoff?s 48 percent when the Associated Press called the race with 80 percent of precincts reporting.

Handel?s win preserves Republicans? 24-seat majority in the House.

Why do you have to lie? And why do you lie, then pat yourself on the back for lying? And why do you lie to people on GFY, and feel good about it?

And why do you lie so much? Do you lie to yourself as much as you lie to everyone here on GFY? Why do you spread lies and bullshit when it is so damn easy to fact-check you?

And do you more than just laugh when you lie? Do you get a hard-on too? Is that some kind of perverted duping delight you've got going in there in your Mom's basement? You're a liar. You're an idiot too, but mostly a liar. Ok maybe equal parts idiot & liar.

The media is just shameful.

They spent the last 4 days talking on CNN about how great Ossoff was and how this was FINALLY going to be a "referendum" on Trump (Just like they said in the other 3 recent special elections...and were wrong on all of them too).

So tonight...I'm watching CNN and Don Lemon has a...you guessed it...panel of "experts" lol

And CNN reporter Dana Bash (because these days CNN reporters are considered "experts" by CNN...lol) looks at the camera and says: "The Republican Candidate didn't win tonight...the Democrat candidate lost"

WTF!?!?!?!?!

What kind of bullshit is that?

And then the panel of "experts" began bashing Ossoff as a terrible candidate. I guess completely forgetting that these same people had just spent the last week praising him on being such a great candidate.

CNN needs to be taken out back and put down. They seriously have ZERO credibility left as a news source.

And up until they decided to go full-retard over Trump...they were the news source that I trusted.
Of course I knew they were biased...but they still reported the news.
They don't even bother reporting news stories anymore.

Watching CNN this last week...you wouldn't have guessed that there was a terror attack against Muslim worshippers in London. And you wouldn't have known that a Navy ship had crashed with a Japanese ship.

I guess if you read the "crawl" at the bottom of the screen you would see that. But it was 24/7 about Trump.

Just a pathetic mess at CNN.

Democrats should be encouraged (and Republicans should be scared) that a seat which has been in Republican control for decades was almost lost. Mulvaney won that seat by 20 points, so the margins have been tightened.

It's amazing to me.

One year ago, the "experts" on CNN and MSNBC were proclaiming that the Republican's were "in the wilderness" and it might be decades before they would win the White House again.

They were predicting that in the 2016 election the Dems would at the very least win the Presidency AND take back the Senate.

One year later: And the Democrat Party finds itself leaderless. Destroyed in the Presidential, Congressional, Senate, and state races across the board.
And in 4 special elections in 2017...they have lost ALL 4 of them.

Did the Dems really fall that far in a year?

I don't think so.
I think the fake news was trying to convince us that the Dems were way stronger than they ever were on the theory that perception is reality.

Just like they are trying to do again with investigations into "Russian Collusion" with Trump...even though all the Intelligence Agency's AND the Democrat leadership in the Senate and the House have all admitted that there is ZERO evidence of that.

Yet they just keep pushing it. Saying vague things about "let's see where the investigation takes us"

In other words...they have an investigation in SEACH of something to investigate.

Or as communist dictator Joseph Stalin's political sidekick Beria told Stalin: "Show me the man and I'll find you the crime"

This video is great. CNN's resident Democrat Party crony who makes legal pronouncements against Trump all the time...Jeffrey Toobin...is taken to the woodshed by the man who TAUGHT him in law school: Alan Dershowitz

You know those lying pieces of shit on CNN just hate it when this kind of thing happens on the air.

Looks like some Democrats are getting the message Hakeem Jefferies from New York was quoted as saying the Democratic party needs to be aggressively focused on job creation and economic growth.

There are others that are admitting that the obsession with Trump and Russia are distracting the party.

If they want to take back the House they need to just let the investigations of Trump and Russia carry out on their own and stop being hysterical about them and they need to focus on jobs and healthcare.

I've been saying this since day 1. Hillary lost with what was fundamentally the same message but more poorly communicated and of course made some shakey campaign decisions coupled with 3 FBI investigations and spent too much time attacking Trump instead of communicating a vision of the future that voters could buy into.

Voters across the board care about Jobs, Economy, Border, Security, Trade, Terrorism etc. No one cares except the fringe about Russia. If there was a smoking gun... great. Fair is fair. Right is right. Destroy them all and put them in prison. But how many times do we have to hear the nations intelligence agencies say "nothing to see here" before they let it go?

Agreeing with Trump or not, liking Trump or not has nothing whatsoever to do with what voters want.... and what voters want has been thoroughly ignored by Democratic politicians up to this point.

Here is what is interesting to me. Had Hillary won, the news would have likely been correct in their assessment a year ago (or at least partly so). Had Hillary won, the Republicans would have been looking at an election where they lost seats in the both the House and Senate and lost the White House to a candidate that was under FBI investigation. They would have blamed Trump and his supporters saying he hijacked the party for personal profit and they would have set out to obstruct Hillary as much as possible. Imagine how the Supreme Court nomination would have gone (although I think had she won they might have suddenly approved Merrick Garland while Obama was still in office for fear Hillary would nominate someone far more liberal). Had Hillary won, the Republican party would be in chaos. When Trump won it sent the Democrats into that chaos and is showing that the Republicans clearly were not read as the party itself lacks much of an identity.

To me, the Democrats made two major errors in the last election. 1. They basically bowed down to Hillary and even did shady things to make certain she was going to be the nominee. She was a bad candidate and the party bet everything on her. 2. They fell for the culture war bullshit. Republicans don't pass laws pertaining to who can piss in what bathroom or whether or not a business can refuse to serve gay clients because they really believe that shit will help everyday people's lives. They do it because they know their base will eat it up and the Democrats will fight it and get dragged into a culture war. This time around it worked so well the Democrats came off like a party that was more concerned with these things than if people have jobs or healthcare.

After what seems like a years-long campaign and tens of millions of dollars spent on a special election that both national parties eyed as a hugely symbolic one, Republican Karen Handel emerged from the Georgia special election Tuesday night with a larger-than-expected, four-point victory.

WINNERS

The GOP brand: Democrats who don't believe the sky is falling will gladly point out that Georgia's 6th is a district they've regularly lost by 20 points or more for years, including when then-Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) was reelected last year before being plucked to become Health and Human Services secretary.
I sure would not be doing a big victory dance. It also ludicrous that the Democrats would expect a win in that district.

https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia%27s_...ional_District

Democrats always lose that district -- a colossal waste of money but moving the loss from 25% to only 4% does say something ...

Barry, I said before the special election: All Politics Is Local.

The Dems did get a ton of money coming in from California and Massachusetts to that race.
But the ONLY reason it was close at all was because Osoff was a good looking young guy with a great personality.
Voters liked him and he talked a lot about working WITH the Republicans in Congress and the Trump White House.

But in a local election...it's all about local concerns.
I don't believe that it had anything to do with national politics or any kind of referendum on Trump or the mid-term elections.

That's all made-up fantasy by the media.

They did the same exact thing in the previous special elections over the last couple of months.
Just HOPING the Democrats would win so they could crow about the "implications".

It's really sad what our news media has become.
They seem to deal in made-up stories and scenarios and rumors. Nothing is substantiated. But all is presented as "fact"...until they are proven 100% wrong. Then the whole story is swept away and "forgotten".

4% is good. It's too soon for Dems to have sweeping wins everywhere because Trump's redhats haven't had enough losing yet and the reality of Trump's extreme criminal legal issues hasnt sunk in yet they're still in denial, and their healthcare hasn't been taken away yet under Trumpcare

16%+- of the local people did not behave as expected -- so they were 'influenced' in some way BTW -- that is a high (highest?) income congressional district in Metro Atlanta.

Whatever the 'local issues' were neither candidate took a position leading to a sizable victory. It's just a congressional race where national 'must-win' politics ruled that day. They (R and D together) spent $50 million. Republicans didn't lose and the Democrats didn't win.

yeah buddy they should be shaking in their boots. The article continues on if you read it......the dems spent 52 MILLION dollars on this one election. The republicans, 3 million. So I don't think they are too worried LOL, good return on their investment! Also nearly all the money was traced and proven to come from the SF bay area and Silicon Valley. Nice try though.

Barry, you like to quote the 50+ million spent but failed to disclose that 52 million came from CA to the democratic candidate and 3 million went to the republican. There is your cute little sarcastic 'influence' not like they actually believed a damn word of the dem. They outspend the Republican 52 million to 3 million and still lost. WOW I thought it was a referendum on Trump? Not only did that not work, throwing all that liberal money didn't work either.

This simply is not true.

Here is an article showing who spent what on the campaign.

Ossoff raised $23.6 million while Handel only raised $4.5 million.

However, when it comes to independent groups like PACs spending. Ossoff had $7.6 million and Handel had $18.2 million

When you add it up, Ossoff had $31.2 million and Handel had $22.7 for a total of $53.9 million spent on this election.

You are right I just did some research and with both PAC's money and NRCC as well the Super pac's of the left you're numbers are right.

Still, he outspent her by nearly 10 million dollars in one small district and STILL lost. How does that bode or even give a feeling of comfort for democrats? Ossoff doesn't even live in the damn district he was running in. He couldn't even cast a ballot in the election LOL

Losing is never good and I know a lot of Democrats are pissed. They wanted Ossoff to attack Trump and he didn't, he mostly stuck to the issues. However, if you are a Democrat you have to see this as a bit of good news. Yes, they spent a shitload of money, but, like you say, the guy wasn't even living in that district (for good reason) and it is a district that has been in Republican hands since 1979. In the last election Price won the seat by more than 20 points and now the margin of victory was down to just under 5. So the fact that they were competitive in a place they have never been even close is some good news for them. Still, in the end, they lost and by the 2018 elections, this particular election will be long since forgotten so it likely won't have much impact on anything going forward.

It never would have had any impact on the 2018 election.

But boy, CNN and MSNBC sure tried to Jedi mind-trick the Democrat citizenry that it would...that is until Handel won. Lol
